Capitol Collectors Series (Raspberries Album)
''Raspberries Capitol Collectors Series'' is a 1991 compilation of 20 tracks recorded by the band between 1972 and 1974. This release was the first time that many of these songs were available on compact disc. The CD contained two unlisted extra tracks which were recordings of radio spots used to promote the albums '' Fresh Raspberries'' and '' Starting Over''. The compilation was also available on cassette. It has been out of print for several years. Most of the songs on the album were written by Eric Carmen but the album also includes "Last Dance" by guitarist Wally Bryson, "Hard to Get Over a Heartbreak" by bassist/guitarist David Smalley and "Rose Coloured Glasses" by bassist Scott McCarl. It also includes Bryson's "Party's Over". Allmusic critic Bruce Eder said that "this 20-song retrospective gives a good overall impression of the Raspberries' strengths across their two years of recording, as well as hints of some weaknesses in the way they were represented on record." Raspberries (band)
The Raspberries were an American pop rock band formed in 1970 from Cleveland, Ohio. They had a run of success in the early 1970s music scene with their pop rock sound, which AllMusic later described as featuring "exquisitely crafted melodies and achingly gorgeous harmonies." The members were known for their clean-cut public image, with short-hair and matching suits, which brought them teenybopper attention as well as scorn from some mainstream media outlets as " uncool". The group drew influence from the British Invasion era—especially The Beatles, The Who, The Hollies, and Small Faces—and its mod sensibility. In both the US and the UK, the Raspberries helped pioneer the power pop music style that took off after the group disbanded. They also have had a following among professional musicians such as Jack Bruce, Ringo Starr, and Courtney Love. The group's "classic" lineup consisted of Eric Carmen (vocalist/guitarist/bassist/pianist), Wally Bryson (guitarist), Jim Bonfanti (dru ...

Allmusic
AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. History AllMusic was launched as ''All Music Guide'' by Michael Erlewine, a "compulsive archivist, noted astrologer, Buddhist scholar and musician". He became interested in using computers for his astrological work in the mid-1970s and founded a software company, Matrix, in 1977. In the early 1990s, as CDs replaced LPs as the dominant format for recorded music, Erlewine purchased what he thought was a CD of early recordings by Little Richard. After buying it he discovered it was a "flaccid latter-day rehash". Frustrated with the labeling, he researched using metadata to create a music guide. In 1990, in Big Rapids, Michigan, he founded ''All Music Guide' ...

Raspberries (band) Albums
The raspberry is the edible fruit of a multitude of plant species in the genus ''Rubus'' of the rose family, most of which are in the subgenus '' Idaeobatus''. The name also applies to these plants themselves. Raspberries are perennial with woody stems. World production of raspberries in 2020 was 895,771 tonnes, led by Russia with 20% of the total. Description A raspberry is an aggregate fruit, developing from the numerous distinct carpels of a single flower. What distinguishes the raspberry from its blackberry relatives is whether or not the torus ( receptacle or stem) "picks with" (i.e., stays with) the fruit. When picking a blackberry fruit, the torus stays with the fruit. With a raspberry, the torus remains on the plant, leaving a hollow core in the raspberry fruit. Raspberries are grown for the fresh fruit market and for commercial processing into individually quick frozen (IQF) fruit, purée, juice, or as dried fruit used in a variety of grocery products such as ras ...

Ecstasy (Raspberries Song)
"Ecstasy" is a song written by Eric Carmen that was first released by the Raspberries on their 1973 album '' Side 3''. It was also released as a single but did not chart. Background Carmen said "Ecstasy" had a " Who/ Small Faces feel" although on songs from ''Side 3'' like "Ecstasy" and " Tonight" he felt that the band was able to be the Raspberries without being derivative of influences like the Who and the Beatles. "Ecstasy" was drummer Jim Bonfanti's favorite Raspberries' song, particularly because he "really got to let loose and play" and guitarist Wally Bryson similarly said that it was one of the greatest things the Raspberries had done. ''Anderson Daily Bulletin'' critic Randall L. Rohn described the song as starting with "very Who-ish" drums and guitars, similar to " The Kids Are Alright." Rohn said that "The band breaks into a three-part, almost syrupy-sweet chorus as the guitars and drumming churn stronger and stronger in the background. The decibel level builds until ...

Guitarist Wally Bryson said that it has "one of those intros that nobody knows how to play but me" because he made up "weird chords to get different sounds." Reception ''Cash Box'' called the song a "driving Eric Carmen composition that is destined to become the group's fourth successive chart item." ''Record World'' called it a "Top 40 powerhouse that is reminiscent of early Beatles." ''Billboard (magazine), Billboard'' recommended the single.
