The canton of Trets is an administrative division of the Bouches-du-Rhône department, in southeastern France. At the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015, it was expanded from 7 to 18 communes. Its seat is in Trets. The cantons of France are territorial subdivisions of the France, French Republic's Departments of France, departments and Arrondissements of France, arrondissements. Apart from their role as organizational units in relation to certain aspects of the administration of public services and justice, the chief purpose of the cantons today is to serve as Constituency, constituencies for the election of members of the representative assemblies established in each of France's territorial departments (Departmental council (France), departmental councils, formerly general councils). Vauvenargues, Bouches-du-Rhône
Vauvenargues (; Provençal: ''Vauvenarga'') is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in southern France. It is close to Aix-en-Provence and the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. Population Chateau of Vauvenargues The chateau in Vauvenargues stands on the site of a Roman fort which eventually was incorporated in a medieval fortress controlled by the Counts of Provence and later the Archbishops of Aix. For 250 years until the French revolution it was the seat of the de Clapiers family, who rebuilt the chateau in its present form and on whom Louis XV bestowed the title Marquis of Vauvernagues. For 150 years after that it was occupied by the d'Isoard family. In the mid-twentieth century its connection with French nobility lapsed. It was eventually bought in 1958 by Pablo Picasso, who was resident until 1962. Saint-Marc-Jaumegarde (; Provençal: ''Sant Marc de Jaumegarda'') is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in southern France. Location It is located 6 kilometres away from Aix-en-Provence and Vauvenargues, Bouches-du-Rhône, and 3 kilometres away from Le Tholonet, near the Montagne Sainte-Victoire. History In 1239, the land was given to the Lord of Esparon by Ramon Berenguer IV, Count of Provence. Rousset, Bouches-du-Rhône
Rousset (; oc, Rosset) is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in southern France close to Aix-en-Provence. History Although Rousset can be traced back to the Romans, the first written mention comes in a 1050 document, under the name of "Rosselun" or "roscetum rosetum". In the Middle Ages, a castle as well as a church and chapels were built, as dwellings increased. In the 9th century, Rousset belonged to the Abbey of Saint-Victor, then by 1143 the Knights Templar took over, followed by the Knights of Malta in 1307. In the 15th century, it belonged to Guillaume de Littera (1371-1452). Under the French Revolution, the castle was destroyed. The church was built in 1861. Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade
Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade (; oc, Lo Pueg de Santa Reparada) or simply Le Puy is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southern France. It is located on the departmental border with Vaucluse, neighbouring Aix-en-Provence to the south and Pertuis to the northeast. It is part of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis. Toponym ''Puy'' derives from the Provençal word "Puech", meaning an isolated hill. "Sainte Réparade" is probably a corruption of " Sainte Réparate", patron saint of the diocese of Nice, some of whose relics were removed in the 11th century to the parish church of "Saint Maurice of Puy" which later took the name "Chapelle Sainte Réparade". According to legend, Saint Réparade was a young girl martyred in Caesarea during the reign of the Emperor Decius by a Roman Proconsul.
