Canton Of La Sologne
The canton of La Sologne (French: ''Canton de la Sologne'') is a canton (an administrative division) of the Loir-et-Cher department, central France. Its seat is Salbris. It was created at the canton reorganisation that came into effect in March 2015. Since then it elects two members of the Departmental Council of Loir-et-Cher. Loir-et-Cher (, ) is a department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. Its name is originated from two rivers which cross it, the Loir in its northern part and the Cher in its southern part. Lamotte-Beuvron
Lamotte-Beuvron () is a town and commune of about 5000 inhabitants in the Loir-et-Cher department of Centre-Val de Loire, France. The French Federal Equestrian Park, one of the largest in Europe, is based in Lamotte-Beuvron. Each July, the Federal Equestrian Park hosts the French Pony Championship, in which more than 15,000 participants compete. It also houses the permanent offices of the French Equestrian Federation and, since 2009, the Bureau of the National Association of the French Riding Pony. The town is the birthplace of the Tarte Tatin dessert, an upside-down apple pastry named after the Tatin sisters, who created it at their Hôtel Tatin, across the street from the Lamotte-Beuvron railway station. Saint-Viâtre () is a commune in the Loir-et-Cher department in central France. History The village was originally called ''Tremblevif'', from the Latin for "aspen" and "village", but suggesting in the popular imagination a place prone to swamp fever and trembling limbs. In 1854, worried that outsiders might be put off, the villagers successfully petitioned to change the name to Saint-Viâtre Graham Robb, ''The Discovery of France'', Picador, London (2007), p.304, quoting Onésime Reclus.
