Canton Of La Courtine
The Canton of La Courtine is a former canton situated in the Creuse département and in the Limousin region of central France. It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. It consisted of 9 communes, which joined the canton of Auzances in 2015. It had 1,678 inhabitants (2012).Populations légales 2012: 23 Creuse

La Courtine
La Courtine (; Auvergnat: ''La Cortina'') is a commune in the Creuse department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in central France. Geography An area of lakes, forestry and farming comprising the village and several hamlets situated in the Creuse river valley, some south of Aubusson, at the junction of the D25, D29 and the D992. The commune is within the natural park of ''Millevaches'', (1000 lakes, not cows). History La Courtine military camp The foundation of the camp in 1904 transformed the town: the inhabitants remained peasants during the day but became bar-keepers at night and soon there were more bars than inhabitants. Geography General information In the extreme south-east of the Creuse department, the municipality of Saint-Merd-la-Breuille extends over 40.19 km2. Bordering the departments of Corrèze and Puy-de-Dôme, its territory is crossed by the Méouzette and very briefly by the Ramade. It is bordered to the south by the Feyt stream for nearly five kilometres.
