Canton Of Fruges
The canton of Fruges (; ) is a canton situated in the Pas-de-Calais département and in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography An area of small valleys and plateaux, consisting mostly of farmland, with the town of Fruges at its centre. Fruges (; vls, Frusje) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Situated some 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Montreuil-sur-Mer on the D928 road, set in a valley not far from the historic battlefield of Azincourt. Features Fruges is a typical small country town in the Pas-de-Calais with a weekly market, agricultural suppliers, a Carrefour and various smaller stores. Fressin
Fressin () is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography A farming village situated east of Montreuil, at the junction of the D155 and the D154 roads. Fressin nestles in the valley of the Planquette, one of several small rivers that flow through the region known as the 'Seven Valleys'. Mixed arable and dairy farming is the predominant occupation of the inhabitants. Fauquembergues (; vls, Valkenberg; pcd, Fauquimbergue) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. First mentioned in 961 as "in monten qui dicitur Falcoberg", the place later in 1124 was called ''Falkenberga''. In 1347, an English raiding force under Henry of Grosmont razed the settlement to the ground. Créquy
Créquy () is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography One of many small villages in Artois, Créquy gives it name to the small stream, the Créquoise, that rises in the nearby hills and is one of the waterways of the 'Seven Valleys' tourist area. Population Coat of arms The Créquy coat of arms is derived from 'ardentis quercus robur mythicon' ('the flaming oak of myth'). The aforementioned oak was a particularly fine example of the genus, with particularly impressive girth, which was a popular gathering point for visitors around the summer solstice (ambiguous; dates of recorded assemblages are sporadic & the solstictic link may be happenchance).
