The cantons of France () are territorial subdivisions of the France, French Republic's Departments of France, departments and Arrondissements of France, arrondissements. Châtelaillon-Plage (, also ), commonly known as Châtelaillon, is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department, administrative region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. It is located south of the city of La Rochelle and is also a suburb. It is twinned with Knebworth, England. History In the 16th century near the point of Cornard today featured a fortress known as ''Castrum Allionis'', the old capital of Aunis. On August 1130, the Duke of Aquitaine William X of Poitiers, besieged the château. The leader of the place Isembert deprived its troops. The rest of the fortress were totally despaired in the 16th century, a small hamlet with bells of the swamps. During the 19th century, it had agricultural area in Boucholeurs. At the end of the nineteenth century, it was linked with rail, it constructed its first baths ''bains de mar'' with numerous villas. Angoulins
Angoulins () is a commune in the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France. Geography Angoulins is located in the northwest of the department of Charente-Maritime some 8 km south-east of La Rochelle and 5 km north of Châtelaillon-Plage in the former province of Aunis. It is a coastal commune on the Atlantic Ocean. Access is by the E602 (D137) highway from La Rochelle continuing south-east with an exit in the commune just east of Angoulins town. There is also the D202 from Salles-sur-Mer in the east turning south and continuing to Chatelaillon-Plage. Access to the town is by the D111E1 from the D202 on the southern border continuing through the town and turning east to the motorway exit. Fouras
Fouras, also known as Fouras-les-Bains (), is a commune in the French department of Charente-Maritime, administrative region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2015: Poitou-Charentes). It lies 34 km south of La Rochelle. Geography Fouras is on a peninsula. It is bordered by five beaches and a forest named "Bois Vert" ("Green Wood" in English) which covers 20% of its surface area. There is a causeway linking Fouras to Fort Énet, which is walkable at low tide, in the direction of Île-d'Aix. The pier for the island of Aix is also located in the territory of the commune. The south coast of the peninsula of Fouras forms the northern side of the mouth of the river Charente. A little further south is the Île d'Oléron.
