The canton of Ambérieu-en-Bugey is an administrative division of the Ain department, eastern France. Its borders were modified at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is located in Ambérieu-en-Bugey. Ambérieu-en-Bugey
Ambérieu-en-Bugey (; frp, Ambèriô) is a commune in the department of Ain, region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. It is the largest town in the arrondissement of Belley and the capital of the Canton of Ambérieu-en-Bugey which consists of 8 communes with a total of 21,226 inhabitants in 2007 with 17,466 inhabitants in its own urban area in 2010. It is also the capital of the historic region of Bugey. Its inhabitants are known as ''Ambarrois'' or ''Ambarroises''. The town was called ''Ambérieu'' until 31 March 1955 when it became ''Ambérieu-en-Bugey''. The town is known for being an important railway junction, but also for winning the Croix de guerre 1939-1945 with citation at the Liberation. Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey (, literally ''Saint-Rambert in Bugey'') is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France. History The commune takes its name from St Rambert (or Ragnebert) who was assassinated here in the 7th century. The site soon became popular for pilgrimage and an influential abbey was built in the town. Geography The river Albarine flows southwest through the commune. Argis
Argis is a commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France. Geography Argis is in the mountains of the southern Jura in the mountains of Bugey in the valley of the Albarine between Tenay and Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey. Altitude varies from 315 metres in the valley to 800 metres on the slopes of the valley. The commune is some 10 km east of Amberieu-en-Bugey and 10 km south-west of Hauteville-Lompnes. It can be accessed on the D1504 road from Saint-Rambert-en-Bugey in the north-west passing through the northern border of the commune then south to the village and continuing south to Tenay. The D104 road also goes from the village over a tortuous mountain route to Arandas in the south-west. There are also many small mountain roads in the commune. Arandas, Ain
Arandas is a commune in the Ain department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France. Geography Arandas is some 50 km north-west of Aix-les-Bains and 10 km south-west of Hauteville-Lompnes. It can be accessed by the D104 from Argis in the north running south to the village then continuing south as the D104A through the heart of the commune to join the D32 south of the commune. The D104 itself reverses direction in the village and heads north-west to join the D73. The commune has some farmland but is heavily forested and mountainous. There are no villages or hamlets in the commune other than Arandas. The ''Bossiere'' stream rises near the village and flows west to join the ''Galine'' river. The ''Ruisseau de Grinand'' also rises in the north of the commune, forming part of the northern boundary before flowing into the Galine.
