Canoeing At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's K-4 1000 Metres
The men's K-4 1000 metres competition in canoeing at the 2008 Summer Olympics took place at the Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park in Beijing between August 18 and 22. The K-4 event is raced in four-person kayaks. Competition consists of three rounds: the heats, the semifinals, and the final. All boats compete in the heats. The top three finishers in each of the two heats advance directly to the final, while the remaining four finishers in each heat move on to the semifinal. The top three finishers in the semifinal join the top heat finishers in the final. Heats took place on August 18, semifinal on August 20, and the final on August 22. Michal Riszdorfer ( hu, Riszdorfer Mihály ; born 26 May 1977 in Bratislava) is a Slovak canoe sprinter who has competed since the late 1990s. Competing in three Summer Olympics, he won two medals in the K-4 1000 m with a silver in 2008 and a bronze in 2004. Norman Bröckl (born 22 August 1986 in Berlin) is a German sprint canoer who has competed since 2003. He won a bronze medal in the K-4 1000 m event on his 22nd birthday at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing (with Lutz Altepost, Torsten Eckbrett and Björn Goldschmidt). Bröckl enjoyed great success as a junior. At the 2003 Junior World Championships in Komatsu, Japan he won a K-2 1000 m gold medal Lieven Spur partnering and the K-1 500 m silver medal, behind Portugal's Emanuel Silva.
