Canada Women's National Wheelchair Basketball Team
The Canada women's national wheelchair basketball team is one of Canada's most successful national sporting teams. It is the only national women's wheelchair basketball team to have won three consecutive gold medals at the Paralympic Games in 1992, 1996 and 2000, and the only one to have won four consecutive World Wheelchair Basketball Championships, in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006. In 2014 it won a fifth World Championship. History Wheelchair basketball has been played in Canada since the 1940s. A women's tournament was held at the 1968 Summer Paralympics in Tel Aviv, and a Canadian women's team participated in the 1972 Summer Paralympics. Ice hockey (or simply hockey) is a team sport played on ice skates, usually on an ice skating rink with lines and markings specific to the sport. It belongs to a family of sports called hockey. 2010 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship
The 2010 Wheelchair Basketball World Championship was held in Birmingham, Great Britain from 7 to 17 July 2010. Both the men's and women's tournaments were held. The Championships was a qualifying event for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Medalists Squads Each of the 12 men's and 10 women's teams selected a squad of 12 players for the tournament. The 1984 International Games for the Disabled, canonically the 1984 Summer Paralympics were the seventh Paralympic Games to be held. The 1976 Summer Paralympics (french: Jeux paralympiques d'été de 1976), branded as Torontolympiad – 1976 Olympiad for the Physically Disabled, was the fifth Paralympic Games to be held. They were hosted by Toronto, Ontario, Canada, from 4 to 12 August 1976, marking the first time a Paralympics was held in the Americas and in Canada.
