Canada At The 2022 World Athletics Championships
Canada is scheduled to compete at the 2022 World Championships in Athletics in Eugene, Oregon, United States, from July 15−24, 2022. The Canadian team of 54 athletes (24 men and 30 women) was named on June 30, 2022. In July, five more athletes were named to the team (Cameron Proceviat, Catherine Léger (athlete), Catherine Léger, Gracelyn Larkin, Grace Fetherstonhaugh and Anicka Newell) after invitations from World Athletics. This meant the final team size was 59 athletes (25 men and 34 women). Canada finished the event with four medals (one gold, two silver and one bronze), including a new List of Canadian records in athletics, national record and gold medal win in the 4x100 relay for men, 25 years after the last major win for the team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Athletics Canada or AC (french: Athlétisme Canada) is the national governing body of athletics in Canada, which includes track and field, cross-country running, road running, and race walking. Aaron Brown (born 27 May 1992) is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 100 and 200 metres. As part of Canada's 4×100 m relay team, he is a two-time Olympic medallist at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, and the 2022 World champion. Brown has also won two World bronze medals as part of Canada's 4×100 m relay teams in 2013 and 2015. 2022 World Athletics Championships – Men's 100 Metres
The men's 100 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships was held at the Hayward Field in Eugene on 15 and 16 July 2022. 76 athletes from 53 nations entered to the competition. Summary The defending champion Christian Coleman got his customary fast start, with Marvin Bracy, Abdul Hakim Sani Brown and Aaron Brown all out fast on the opposite side of the track. By 40 metres Bracy and Coleman were clear leaders with Fred Kerley just an arm's length back. Over the next 20 metres, Bracy separated to a full metre over Kerley as Coleman was straining. Next to last out of the blocks, Trayvon Bromell came back to pass Coleman with 30 metres to go as all four American sprinters occupied the top places with Bromell about even with Kerley and Bracy clearly ahead. Benjamin Williams (sprinter)
Benjamin Williams (January 1, 1751July 20, 1814) was the 11th and 14th Governor of the U.S. state of North Carolina, from 1799 to 1802 and from 1807 to 1808. He was the first of two North Carolina Governors since the American Revolution to serve nonconsecutive terms. Malachi Murray (born 18 March 2000) is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 100 m. He represented Canada in the 100 m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and was named as an alternate for Canada's 4 × 100 m relay team at the 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships. 2022 World Athletics Championships – Men's 800 Metres
The men's 800 metres at the 2022 World Athletics Championships was held at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, Eugene from 20 to 23 July 2022. Summary After missing the Olympics, defending champion Donavan Brazier was eliminated in the heats. World leader Max Burgin did not start. Marco Arop
Marco Arop (born September 20, 1998) is a Canadian track and field athlete competing in the middle distance events. He currently holds a personal best of 1:43:26 in the 800 m. He is the 2022 World bronze medallist and the 2019 Pan American champion in that discipline. Arop represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Early life The Arop family fled Sudan during the civil war of the 1990s when Marco was a toddler. Camryn Rogers
Camryn Rogers (born June 7, 1999) is a Canadian athlete specializing in the hammer throw. She is the reigning world champion, only the second Canadian woman to win gold at the World Athletics Championships. She is also the 2022 World silver medalist, 2022 Commonwealth Games champion, 2018 world U20 champion, and represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
