The University of Hong Kong's main campus covers of land on Pok Fu Lam Road and Bonham Road in Lung Fu Shan of Central and Western District, Hong Kong Island. The university also has a few buildings in Sassoon Road, Sandy Bay Gap. HKU buildings are some of the few remaining examples of Colonial architecture, British colonial architecture in Hong Kong. The university lends its name to HKU station, the main public transport access to the campus (and the Lung Fu Shan and Shek Tong Tsui neighbourhoods), opened on 28 December 2014. Li Ka Shing Faculty Of Medicine
The University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine (branded as HKUMed) is the medical school of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), a public research university. It was founded in 1887 as the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, one of the oldest western medical schools in the Asia–Pacific region, and which served as the base for HKU's founding in 1910. The faculty consists of several schools and departments that provide tertiary programmes in medicine, nursing, pharmacy and Chinese medicine. English is the medium of instruction for all classes, while Chinese is retained for the teaching of Chinese medicine. It is located several kilometres away from the university's main campus and is near the Queen Mary Hospital, its main teaching facility and research base. Hormusjee Naorojee Mody
Sir Hormusjee Naorojee Mody (12 October 1838 – 16 June 1911) was an Indian Parsi businessman in Hong Kong. He lived in Hong Kong for 50 years, during which he worked for the colony and founded the University of Hong Kong. Biography He was born in Bombay and moved to Hong Kong around 1860. At the time there was a large community of Parsi merchants based in Hong Kong, including Dorabjee Naorojee Mithaiwala, who founded the Star Ferry and Jehangir Hormujee Ruttonjee who helped establish the Hong Kong Ruttonjee Sanatorium. The Main Building of the University of Hong Kong () is the oldest building of the University of Hong Kong. It is located on the main campus on Bonham Road and Pok Fu Lam Road in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. It was built in the architectural style of Edwardian Baroque and designed by Alfred Bryer of Leigh & Orange and is of three storeys high. Cape D'Aguilar () is a cape on Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The cape is on the southeastern end of D'Aguilar Peninsula. To its north are Shek O and D'Aguilar Peak. Kadoorie Farm And Botanic Garden
Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) (), formerly known as Kadoorie Experimental and Extension Farm (), or Kadoorie Farm (), was originally set up to aid poor farmers in the New Territories in Hong Kong. It later shifted its focus to promote biodiversity conservation in Hong Kong and south China, and greater environmental awareness. It is located near Pak Ngau Shek, encompassing Kwun Yam Shan in the central New Territories; The Farm was built in a valley with streams, woodlands and terraces in 1956 by the Kadoorie Agricultural Aid Association. Sai Ying Pun is an area in Sai Wan, on Hong Kong Island, in Hong Kong. It is administratively part of the Central and Western District. Etymology In Cantonese, ''Sai'' ( zh, t=西, labels=no) means "west" and ''Ying Pun'' ( zh, t=營盤, labels=no) means "camp", especially a military camp. The Prince Philip Dental Hospital (PPDH) () is a dental teaching hospital in Sai Ying Pun, Hong Kong. It houses the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Hong Kong and is governed by the Prince Philip Dental Hospital Ordinance. History Government Civil Hospital 1849–1937 Government Civil Hospital was opened in 1849 on this site to provide Western medical care. The Queen Mary Hospital is the largest district general hospital located in Pok Fu Lam on Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong.
