Campus Pool is a skatepark and former swimming pool in Bishopsworth, Bristol, UK. History The former Bishopsworth Swimming Pool closed in 2012, following the opening of Hengrove Park Leisure Centre. In November 2014 it was announced that the building would be reused to house an indoor skatepark. Work to build the skatepark began in March 2015. It opened in July 2015. Skatepark
A skatepark, or skate park, is a purpose-built recreational environment made for skateboarding, BMX, scootering, wheelchairs, and aggressive inline skating. A skatepark may contain half-pipes, handrails, funboxes, vert ramps, stairsets, quarter pipes, ledges, spine transfers, pyramids, banked ramps, full pipes, pools, bowls, snake runs, and any number of other objects. History The first skatepark in the world, Surf City, opened for business at 5140 E. Speedway in Tucson, Arizona on September 3, 1965. Patti McGee, Women's National Champion, attended the grand opening. The park had concrete ramps and was operated by Arizona Surf City Enterprises, Inc. Bishopsworth is the name of both a wards of the United Kingdom, council ward of the city of Bristol in the United Kingdom, and a suburb of the city which lies within that ward. Hengrove Park Leisure Centre
Hengrove Park Leisure Centre is a leisure centre in Hengrove, Bristol, UK. The project was funded through a private finance initiative (PFI) and cost £35 million. It was built on part of the site of Whitchurch Airport. The centre is operated by Parkwood Leisure for Bristol City Council. History Plans to build the centre were announced in 2006.
