The Bega schoolgirl murders refer to the abduction, rape and murder of two Australian schoolgirls; 14-year-old Lauren Margaret Barry and 16-year-old Nichole Emma Collins of Bega, New South Wales, Australia on 6 October 1997.. They were abducted by Leslie Camilleri and Lindsay Beckett, both from the New South Wales town of Yass. The men subjected the girls to repeated rapes and sexual assaults on five or more separate occasions, while driving them to remote locations throughout rural New South Wales and Victoria.. Joseph Vincent Camilleri, (born 21 May 1948) aka Jo Jo Zep or Joey Vincent, is a Maltese Australian singer-songwriter and musician. Camilleri has recorded as a solo artist and as a member of Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Black Sorrows. Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons' highest-charting single was "Hit & Run" from June 1979, which peaked at #12; NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1970 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. Andrea Calogero Camilleri (; 6 September 1925 – 17 July 2019) was an Italian writer. Biography Originally from Porto Empedocle, Girgenti, Sicily, Camilleri began university studies in the Faculty of Literature at the University of Palermo, but did not complete his degree; during that time he published poems and short stories. From 1948 to 1950 he studied stage and film direction at the Silvio D'Amico Academy of Dramatic Arts (Accademia Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica) and began to take on work as a director and screenwriter, directing especially plays by Pirandello and Beckett. His parents knew and reportedly were "distant friends" of Pirandello, as he relates in his essay on Pirandello, ''Biography of the Changed Son.'' Vincenzo Camilleri (born 6 March 1992) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Serie D club Barletta. Darrin Camilleri (born January 28, 1992) is an American politician from Michigan who represents the 4th District in the Michigan Senate since 2023. He previously represented the 23rd District in the Michigan House of Representatives. Nazzareno Camilleri
Nazzareno Camilleri (1906–1973) was a Maltese philosopher, theologian, and mystic. His areas of specialisation in philosophy were chiefly metaphysics and pedagogy. Life Beginnings Camilleri was born at Sliema, Malta, on 10 November 1906. Since his family lived very close to the Salesian oratory there, he was familiar with the Salesians from a very tender age. He joined them at the young age of fifteen, in 1921, and immediately sent to Sicily to continue his studies at San Gregorio di Catania. He studied there up till 1926, when subsequently he was enrolled at the Jesuit Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome to pursue his institutional studies for the priesthood. Antoine Camilleri MQR, (5 February 1922 – 23 November 2005) was a Maltese artist and art teacher who made a lasting impact on the development of Maltese modern and contemporary art. He retains a special and unique place in Maltese Contemporary Art, mainly of a spirited father, loving teacher and as an artist who matured through the hardship of life. Anya Camilleri is a British film and television director and screenwriter of Maltese descent. Television After graduating from the University of Reading with a Film and Theatre degree, Camilleri's first industry job was at Working Title Films, where she produced and directed commercials and pop videos, teaming up with Derek Jarman, Mike Newell, amongst others. Henry Camilleri (21 February 1933 – 2015) was a Maltese chess International Correspondence Chess Master (IM), eighteen-times Maltese Chess Championship winner: first in 1965 and last in 2005, at the age of 72. Biography Henry Camilleri won his first championship in 1950, at the age of 17. It was the Malta Junior Chess Championship. Henry Camilleri won his first Maltese Chess Championship title in 1965. He won the Maltese Chess Championship eight consecutive times between 1965 and 1972, which is a record in this championship. He then won a title in 1974, then another four consecutive times from 1976 to 1979 inclusive. In 1981, he was again titled but shared his title with Joseph Gauci. Later, he will again win this title twice in a row, in 1989 and 1990. He will win his 17th title in 1999, interrupting the series of six consecutive titles of Timothy Mifsud.
