Camille Polfer
Camille Polfer (21 November 1924 – 19 March 1983) was a Luxembourgish politician and teacher. Born in Namur (city), Namur, in southern Belgium, to Luxembourgish parents, Polfer received his primary education in France, and his secondary education in Echternach, in Luxembourg. He studied at the University of Nancy, qualifying as a sports teacher. He taught at the Lycée de Garçons Esch-sur-Alzette from 1950 until 1959. He transferred to the Lycée de Garçons Luxembourg, in Limpertsberg, where he remained until 1969, when he replaced René Van Den Bulcke as sports commissioner. Polfer entered the Luxembourg communal council, communal council of Luxembourg City as a Democratic Party (Luxembourg), Democratic Party councillor in 1969. He served as an ''Échevin (Luxembourg), échevin'', before becoming Mayor of Luxembourg City in 1980. However, due to his declining health, Polfer was forced to step down after two years in office. Lydie Polfer
Lydie Polfer (born 22 November 1952, in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgish politician who has served in a number of capacities, including Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Mayor of Luxembourg City, as well as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and a member of the Chamber of Deputies. She is a member of the Democratic Party (DP). Early life Polfer succeeded her father, Camille Polfer, as mayor of Luxembourg City, when he was forced to resign from the position due to poor health after only two years. She was first elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the 1984 election, representing Centre. She was the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs in the government of Jean-Claude Juncker from August 1999 until July 2004. In the 2004 legislative election, Polfer was elected, once again, top of the DP list, coming second overall to Luc Frieden. Colette Flesch (born 16 April 1937 in Dudelange) is a Luxembourgish politician and former fencer. Life She gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Wellesley College in 1960, then earned an M.A. in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, before studying at The Hague Academy of International Law. As a fencer she participated in the Individual foil events at the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Summer Olympics. She worked for the European Economic Community in Brussels, specialising in the agricultural side of the Common Market for 5 years. She has served in numerous political capacities, both in government and within the Democratic Party and the European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party. Cents ( lb, Zens) is a quarter in eastern Luxembourg City, in southern Luxembourg. , the quarter has a population of 6,325 inhabitants.
