Calve Island
Calve Island is an uninhabited low-lying island off the east coast of the Isle of Mull in Argyll and Bute on the west coast of Scotland. A whitewashed farmhouse with substantial outbuildings stands on the western shore, used as a summer residence. The island is in length, and wide at its widest point. Calve is owned by the Cotton family who make use of it in the summer months. Tidal offshore islands Calve is classed as a separate island from Mull, although at its south-western point there are extreme low tides that would allow land access to it, via the small tidal island of Cnap a' Chailbhe. Between Mull and Calve runs the channel known as Dòirlinn a' Chailbhe. Calve provides some shelter for Tobermory Bay, helping to make it a safer anchorage. At the north-west of Calve is another small tidal island called Eilean na Beithe. Emma Calvé
Emma Calvé, born Rosa Emma Calvet (15 August 1858 – 6 January 1942) was a French operatic soprano. Calvé was probably the most famous French female opera singer of the Belle Époque. Hers was an international career, and she sang regularly at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, and the Royal Opera House, London. Early life Calvé was born on 15 August 1858 in Decazeville, Aveyron. Her birth name was Rosa Emma Calvet. Her father, Justin Calvet, was a civil engineer. She spent her childhood at first in Spain with her parents, then in different convent schools in Roquefort and Tournemire (Aveyron). After her parents separated, she moved with her mother to Paris. There she attempted to enter the Paris Conservatory, while she studied singing under Jules Puget. She started learning music in Paris from Mathilde Marchesi, a retired German mezzo-soprano and Manuel García. Jean Calvé (born 30 April 1984) is a French former professional footballer who played as a right-back. Career Calvé was born in Cormeilles-en-Parisis, Val-d'Oise. Sheffield United Following his various loan spells in France, Calvé arrived at Bramall Lane on trial in July 2010. Having played one pre-season game, then Blades boss Kevin Blackwell opted not to sign him. However, following Blackwell's departure a few weeks later, incoming boss Gary Speed quickly revived the move and Calvé signed a one-year loan deal with the Yorkshire club and suggested a desire to remain with Sheffield United following the completion of his loan spell. Calvé scored his first ever career goal in his début game for the Blades against Preston North End at the end of August, smashing a 35-yard shot into the top corner.
