Call The Police (radio Program)
''Call the Police'' is an old-time radio crime drama in the United States. It was broadcast on NBC June 3, 1947 - September 28, 1948, and on CBS June 5, 1949 - September 25, 1949. Premise Bill Grant, the main character of ''Call the Police'' was a Marine who had served in World War II and whose father had been a policeman who was killed in the line of duty. The younger Grant went to the FBI Academy and then returned to his hometown to find that criminals had taken control. He took on the challenge of cleaning up crime in the city. George O
George Ortuzar (born August 14, 1961), also known as George O, is a Cuban American actor, comedian, and television host best known for saying uhhhhhhh and his work on Univision, including hosting the shows '' Lente Loco'', ''La Piñata Loca'', and ''Giorgiomania''. Ortuzar has also appeared in several films and commercials, and was featured in advertisements promoting the Hollywood Park Racetrack, for which he served as the marketing manager during its last 12 years of operation. Mandel Kramer
Mandel Kramer (March 12, 1916 – January 29, 1989) was an American actor. As a voice actor, he is best known as the last Johnny Dollar from ''Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar'' radio show. Early years Kramer grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where his father had a shoe store, and attended Cleveland Heights High School. He also studied law at Case Western Reserve University for "a couple of years." Kramer graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and acted for a year in the Cleveland Play House. Career Kramer's first work in radio came at WTAM in his native Cleveland, Ohio. For 20 years he played police chief Bill Marceau on the soap opera ''The Edge of Night'' a role he originated during the shows run on CBS from 1959–1975 & playing the part four years when the show moved to ABC from (1975–1979). ''Gang Busters'' is an American dramatic radio program heralded as "the only national program that brings you authentic police case histories." It premiered on January 15, 1936, and was broadcast over 21 years through November 27, 1957. History So-called "true crime" magazines were highly popular in the 1930s and the movie ''G Men'' starring James Cagney, released in the spring of 1935, had proven to be a big hit. Producer-director Phillips H. Lord thought there was a place on radio for a show of the same type. Crime Does Not Pay (radio Series)
''Crime Does Not Pay'' was an MGM anthology crime film series of shorts that ran from 1935-1947. Each episode was around 20 minutes in length and composer-conductor John Gart provided the music. It later spawned a radio series of the same name. The radio show was recorded and broadcast at MGM's New York station, WMGM. Written by Ira Marion and directed by Marx B. Loeb, it aired for two years (October 10, 1949-October 10, 1951), including repeats. It moved to the Mutual Broadcasting System for its final run (January 7-December 22, 1952). For the most part, B movie actors were featured but occasionally one of MGM's major stars would make an appearance. Alice Reinheart (May 6, 1910 – June 10, 1993) was an American actress, best known for her work in old-time radio. An article in the September 1940 issue of Radio and Television Mirror magazine described her as "pert, vivacious, beautiful and talented in writing and music as well as acting." Early years Reinheart was born May 6, 1910, in San Francisco, California and grew up in Winnemucca, Nevada. She was called "a child prodigy, hogave piano concerts when she was 12." Reinheart "traveled extensively in Europe" before she was 16 years old.
