California Women's Amateur Championship
California Women's Amateur Championship is a golf championship held in California for the state's top women amateur golfers. It has been held since 1967 with the inaugural tournament held at Pebble Beach Golf Links. History The California Women's Amateur Championship has its origins as one of three women's state amateur tournaments in California. The first was run by the California Women's Golf Association from 1906 to 1920 when it was re-organized. The current California Women's Amateur Championship was officially formed in 1967 with its first tournament at Pebble Beach Golf Links. The idea for the tournament came from Helen Lengfeld who presented the idea to S.F.B. Morse. Entrants for the first tournament were limited to 100 applicants with the lowest handicaps. Lengfeld also served as the chairman for the first event which was won by Shelley Hamlin. Natalie Gulbis
Natalie Anne Gulbis (born January 7, 1983) is an American professional golfer who plays on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. Golf career Gulbis was born and raised in the Sacramento, California, area. She has Latvian ancestry. Gulbis started finding interest in the game at the early age of four. By the time she reached age seven, she had won her first tournament, and at age ten, she reports she was breaking par. Amy Alcott (born February 22, 1956) is an American professional golfer and golf course designer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1975, and won five major championships and 29 LPGA Tour events in all. She is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Anne Quast (born August 31, 1937) is an American amateur golfer. She won the U.S. Women's Amateur three times (1958, 1961, 1963) and was runner-up three times (1965, 1968, 1973). She was married several times and played as Anne Decker, Anne Welts, and Anne Sander. Career Quast was born in Everett, Washington. Emilee Klein (born June 11, 1974) is an American professional golfer and college golf coach who played on the LPGA Tour. Klein was born in Santa Monica, California and grew up in Sherman Oaks, California, where she attended Notre Dame High School.
