In January 1903, CalCPA was first organized, followed by the formation of the Associated Certified Public Accountants of California, incorporated March 1906, and the Southern California Association of Certified Public Accountants, formed in October 1908. The CalCPA Education Foundation provides continuing education and information to CPAs and other professionals. Founded in 1966, the CalCPA Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and a sister organization of The California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA). CPAs are required to pass a Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination to receive certification.
