Caldwell is a city in Sumner County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 1,025. History Near Caldwell is a precontact Plains Village period settlement called the Buresh site, which has yielded clues about Native American lifeways prior to the arrival of people of European and African descent. Caldwell was founded in 1871. It is named for Senator Alexander Caldwell. Caldwell was incorporated as a city in 1879. The first post office in Caldwell was established in May 1871. The Chisholm Trail ran along the east side of the community from 1867 to 1871. In 1887, the Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska Railway built a branch line north-south from Herington to Caldwell. Granite Falls is a town in Caldwell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 4,722 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hickory–Lenoir– Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The name Granite Falls comes from the waters that splash over the granite boulders spanning Gunpowder Creek. In 1791, pioneer Andrew Baird saw that he could operate an iron works beside Gunpowder Creek, and in doing so, became owner of all the land now occupied by the Town of Granite Falls. The community would start to form from that point. Granite Falls was incorporated as a town in 1899. Hudson, North Carolina
Hudson is a town in Caldwell County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 3,776 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hickory–Lenoir– Morganton Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Hudson originated as a sawmill camp, with timber being the initial attraction to the area. Among early settlers to Hudson, were the Hudson brothers, Monroe and Johnny. The name Hudson was selected honoring these two brothers as the name of the community. "Hudsonville" would come into being in 1880, with the "ville" being dropped in 1889 due to mail confusion with Hendersonville. In 1905, Hudson was incorporated as a town. In 1904, businessman B.B. Hayes of the textile business came to Hudson and established the first big industry, the Hudson Cotten Mill (known as Shuford Mills).
