Calabar Monorail
The Calabar Monorail is an abandoned monorail system in Calabar, state capital of Cross River state, Nigeria. The single-track, line runs from the Calabar International Convention Centre to the Tinapa Resort. The project was initiated by the former governor of Cross River state, Senator Liyel Imoke and completed by successor Benedict Ayade. Facilities The Calabar Monorail is an Intamin P8 shuttle with 12 cars and a total capacity of 88 passengers. After successful trials of the Calabar Monorail, the governor of Cross Rivers state, Benedict Ayade disclosed that there were plans to extend the monorail up to the Margaret Ekpo International Airport in Calabar. Colloquially, the term "monorail" is often used to describe any form of elevated rail or people mover. List Of Monorail Systems
A monorail is a railway system in which the track consists of a single elevated rail, beam or track with the trains either supported or suspended. The term is also used to describe the beam of the system, or the vehicles traveling on such a beam or track. Many monorail systems run through crowded areas that would otherwise require the construction of expensive underground lines or have the disadvantages of surface lines. Ben Ayade
Benedict Bengiuoshuye Ayade (; born 2 March 1968) is a Nigerian politician who served as the governor of Cross River State from 2015 to 2023. He served as Senator for Cross River North from 2011 to 2015. Early life He was born in Obudu LGA of Cross River State on 2 March 1968 to Peter Akinsheye Ayade and Beatrice Ngayi Ayade. Ayade Benedict Bengiuoshuye CON was born on the 2nd of March, 1968 and hails from Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State. Calabar
Calabar (also referred to as Callabar, Calabari, Calbari and Kalabar) is the capital city of Cross River State, Nigeria. It was originally named Akwa Akpa, in the Efik language. Liyel Imoke (born 10 July 1961) was elected governor of Cross River State, Nigeria in April 2007, taking office on 29 May 2007. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
