Cage The Songbird
''Cage the Songbird'' is the eleventh studio album by American country music singer Crystal Gayle. Released on October 17, 1983, it peaked at #5 on the Billboard Country Album chart. Four of the album's tracks became Top 5 hits on the Country Singles chart, with two of them reaching #1. Chronologically they were "The Sound of Goodbye" (#1), "I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love" (#2), "Turning Away" (#1), and "Me Against the Night" (#4). The title song, "Cage the Songbird", was co-written and first recorded by Elton John in 1976 album, ''Blue Moves''. "Victim or a Fool" was originally recorded by the songwriter, Rodney Crowell on his 1981 eponymous album. "Take Me Home" was originally sung by Gayle on a Tom Waits composed 1982 soundtrack album called ''One from the Heart'' for a movie of the same name. ''Rodney Crowell'' is the third studio album by American country music artist Rodney Crowell. It was released in 1981 (see 1981 in country music) by Warner Bros. Records and was his last album on that label before switching to Columbia. It was the first album Crowell produced by himself. It reached #47 on the Top Country Albums chart and #105 on the ''Billboard'' 200 albums chart. The songs, "Stars on the Water" and "Victim or a Fool" were released as singles. Norman Saleet (born Norman Sallitt) is an American songwriter, musician, and actor. He is best known for writing Air Supply's 1981 hit " Here I Am". Tom Curtis Shapiro (born in Kansas City, Missouri) is an American songwriter and occasional record producer, known primarily for his work in country music. Tim Krekel (October 10, 1950 – June 24, 2009) was an American rock musician and country music songwriter from Louisville, Kentucky. Early life Krekel was born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1950. He became interested in music early and his first lessons were on the drums. David William Logan Johnstone (born 6 May 1951) is a British rock guitarist and vocalist, best known for his long-time collaboration with Elton John as a member of the Elton John Band. Career Johnstone's first work was with Noel Murphy in 1968, where he received his first album credit on the album ''Another Round''. By 1969, Johnstone had secured regular work as a session musician, where he began to branch out and explore differing genres of music, and experiment with a variety of instruments. Bernard John Taupin (born 22 May 1950) is an English songwriter, singer and visual artist. He is best known for his long-term collaboration with musician Elton John, a songwriting partnership that is one of the most successful in history.
