Cable (Nathan Christopher Charles Summers) is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly in association with X-Force and the X-Men. Nathan first appeared as the newborn infant in ''The Uncanny X-Men'' #201 (Jan. 1986) created by writer Chris Claremont and penciler Rick Leonardi, while Cable first appeared in ''The New Mutants (comic book), The New Mutants'' #87 (March 1990) created by writer Louise Simonson and artist/co-writer Rob Liefeld; Cable's origin initially was undecided and he was assumed to be a separate character, but it was later decided that he was actually an older version of Nathan due to being a time traveler. ''Cable'' is the name of multiple comic book titles featuring the character Cable (comics), Cable and published by Marvel Comics, beginning with the original ''Cable'' comic book series which debuted in 1993. Publication history In 1992, the character was featured in his first solo series, a two issue miniseries, titled ''Cable: Blood and Metal'', written by Fabian Nicieza, pencilled by John Romita, Jr., and inked by Dan Green (artist), Dan Green, published in October and November of that year. "Secret Empire" is a 2017 Marvel Comics crossover storyline published by Marvel Comics, consisting of a 10-issue, eponymous miniseries written by Nick Spencer and illustrated by Rod Reis, Daniel Acuña, Steve McNiven, Leinil Francis Yu and Andrea Sorrentino, and numerous tie-in books.
