President Of Paraguay
The president of Paraguay ( es, Presidente del Paraguay), officially known as the President of the Republic of Paraguay ( es, Presidente de la República del Paraguay), is according to the Constitution of Paraguay the head of the executive branch of the Government of Paraguay, both head of state and head of government. His honorific title is ''Su Excelencia''. Under the 1992 constitution, the president is limited to a single five-year term. An attempt by the Senate to abolish term limits on 1 April 2017 resulted in protests; it was ultimately rejected. The presidential seat is the Palacio de los López, in Asunción. Ana María Baiardi Quesnel (born Asunción, Paraguay; 17 July 1965) is a Paraguayan diplomat and politician. From 2018 to 2022, she served as the ambassador of Paraguay in Peru. The Ministry of Women or Ministry of Women's Affairs (MWA) is a Paraguayan state ministry established in 2012. The current Minister of Women is Celina Esther Lezcano, who succeeded Nilda Romero in March 2021. History of the Ministry In 1993 the Paraguayan state created a Secretariat for Women's Affairs within the Office of the President. This secretariat was raised to the status of a Ministry of Women's Affairs by Act No. 4675, in 2012. The Ministry of Justice of Paraguay came into existence in January 2014 when the Ministry of Justice and Labor (which was established in August 1948) was divided into two separate entities. The ministry is responsible for administering the National Penitentiary System and the Civil Registry of Persons, and take the necessary steps to strengthen its role as an interlocutor between the Executive Branch and the Judicial Branch. Santiago Peña
Santiago Peña Palacios (; born 16 November 1978) is a Paraguayan politician and economist who is the president-elect of Paraguay following the 2023 general election. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Paraguay, and former Minister of Finance of Paraguay. He previously stood as a candidate in the Colorado Party's presidential primary in 2018, where he lost to Mario Abdo Benítez, who went on to be elected president in the 2018 general election. Peña was a member of the Authentic Radical Liberal Party between 1996 and 2016, when he joined the Colorado Party.
