Cabanes, Castellón
Cabanes (), also known as Cabanes de l'Arc, is a village and Municipalities of Spain, municipality located in the Comarques of the Valencian Community, comarca of Plana Alta, in the province of Castellón, Valencian Community, Spain. Cabanes is located near the old Ancient Rome, Roman road Via Augusta, along which the Arch of Cabanes, a triumphal arch from the 2nd century AD, can be seen. Amparo Cabanes Pecourt (born 1938) is a Spanish historian, professor of paleography, writer, and politician. From 1981 to 1983 she was a Councilor of the Valencian Community. In her writings she has defended the position that Valencian is not Catalan. Biography Amparo Cabanes Pecourt was born in the fishing district of Valencia. She is a disciple of the medieval historian and philologist . She took Baccalaureate and studies in Valencia. She obtained the degrees of Philosophy and Letters ''con premio extraordinario'' (1962) and Doctor in History (1968), under the direction of Ubieto Arteta at the Literary University of Valencia. She also took Social Graduate studies at the Social School of Valencia (1959–1962). From 1963 to 1983 she taught as a Full Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Valencia, and taught two courses (1979–1982) at that university's School of Nursing. José Cabanes ( El Genovés 1981) is a professional Valencian pilota player, known as Genovés II because his father is Genovés I. He plays for the ValNet company as a ''dauer'' on Escala i corda matches, but he can be also seen in exhibition matches of Llargues, Galotxa, or Frontó (In summer 2005 he went with Álvaro to Paris to play a friendly match against Basque pilotaris). He is a member of the Valencian Pilota Squad. He began playing seriously at the ''pilota'' schools. In 1998 he debuted at the trinquet of Vilamarxant. Francisco "Paco" Cabanes Pastor (20 December 1954 – 31 July 2021) was a Spanish professional Valencian pilota player known by his town's name, Genovés I, and who has begun a ''pilotaris'' saga with his son, ''José Cabanes, Genovés II''.
