''CNN News Central'' is a daytime news program carried by the U.S. cable news channel CNN. It premiered on April 3, 2023, as part of a phase-out of CNN's existing rolling news block '' CNN Newsroom'', with its afternoon edition premiering two weeks later on April 17, 2023. The morning edition is anchored by John Berman, Kate Bolduan, and Sara Sidner in New York City and is simulcast on sister network HLN, while the afternoon edition is anchored by Brianna Keilar and Boris Sanchez in Washington, D.C. With the cancellation of '' CNN This Morning'', the morning edition of ''News Central'' was moved into its timeslot as a replacement in February 2024, and the first 30 minutes of the morning edition is broadcast on CNN International. Christopher Andrew Licht (born October 22, 1971) is an American television newsman and producer. Since May 2022, he has been the chairman and CEO of CNN. He is best known as the showrunner and executive producer of ''The Late Show With Stephen Colbert'', as well as CBS's executive vice president of special programming. He is also known for having launched ''Morning Joe'' on MSNBC, and the reboot of ''CBS This Morning''. Early life and education Licht was born to Susan Mary (Kneeland) and Dr. Peter David Licht of Newtown, Connecticut. He graduated from Syracuse University's S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism and political science. Originally hosted by Catherine Crier and Bernard Shaw, and then Shaw and Judy Woodruff, the show ran from 1992 – 2005 before being cancelled. The program was revived in 2014 with John King as host.
