CKKN-FM, branded as ''101.3 The River'', is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts a hot adult contemporary format at 101.3 FM in Prince George, British Columbia. The station is owned by the Jim Pattison Group, which also owns sister stations CKDV-FM and CKPG-TV. History The station was launched in 1981 by Q Broadcasting, as a country station with the call sign CIOI and the brand name ''Country 101''. Q Broadcasting sold its holdings to Monarch Broadcasting in 1990. Monarch converted the station to the CKKN call sign in 1995, and to its current format in 1999. The stations were in turn sold to Pattison in 2000, and became hot adult contemporary ''Hits FM'' at that time. By 2004, the station shifted to adult contemporary; ratings remained dismal from its adult top 40 format after the switch. McLeod Lake, British Columbia
McLeod Lake is an unincorporated community located on Highway 97 in northern British Columbia, Canada, north of Prince George. It is notable for being the first continuously inhabited European settlement established west of the Rocky Mountains in present-day Canada. History Originally named Trout Lake Fort, it was founded by the explorer and North West Company trader Simon Fraser in 1805 and was for a while known as La Malice Fort, after an employee left in charge during Fraser's absence. It became known soon after as Fort McLeod during the tenure of Archibald Norman McLeod, who was in charge of the post for many years. The site of the fort was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1953. McLeod Lake Indian Reserve No. 1, which is adjacent to the non-native community, has a population of around 87, the main residents being an Athabascan Sekani people known as "Tse'Khene" (the people of the rock, in reference to the Rocky Mountains). Mackenzie is a district municipality within the Fraser-Fort George Regional District in central British Columbia, Canada. The community is located at the south end of Williston Lake. The townsite, established by Alexandra Forest Industries (acquired by BC Forest Products in 1967) and Cattermole Timber (partnered with Jujo Paper in 1970 to create Finlay Forest Industries), was named for Sir Alexander MacKenzie (1764–1820). Adult contemporary music (AC) is a form of radio-played popular music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad-heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, R&B, quiet storm and rock influence.
