CKEN-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting from Kentville, Nova Scotia at 97.7 FM. The station currently plays a country format and is branded on-air as ''AVR'' (which is short for Annapolis Valley Radio). The station has been on the air since 1947. The station originally broadcast at 1490 AM, then moved to 1350 in 1953, then back to 1490 in 1979. In July 2002, the station received CRTC approval to move to 94.9 FM, but instead moved to 97.7 FM in 2003. Maritime Broadcasting System Limited, branded as MBS Radio, is a private Canadian broadcasting company owning 21 radio stations serving several communities in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. MBS Radio was established in 1969 as Eastern Broadcasting Limited in Campbellton, New Brunswick and is currently owned by Rob Pace. CFAB is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 1450 AM in Windsor, Nova Scotia. The station currently airs a country format branded as ''AVR'', and is owned & operated by the Maritime Broadcasting System. The station also airs a mix of locally produced programming and simulcasting of its sister station CKEN-FM from Kentville. History The station was launched on November 13, 1945 by Evangeline Broadcasting, and was acquired by Annapolis Valley Radio, which would eventually become the Maritime Broadcasting System, in 1979. Digby is an incorporated town in southwestern Nova Scotia, Canada. It is in the historical Digby County, Nova Scotia, county of Digby and a separate municipality from the Municipality of the District of Digby. The town is situated on the western shore of the Annapolis Basin near the entrance to the Digby Gut, which connects the basin to the Bay of Fundy. CTV Atlantic (formerly known as the Atlantic Television, or ATV) is a system of four television stations in the Maritimes, owned and operated by the CTV Television Network, a division of Bell Media. Despite the name, it is not available on basic cable or analog in Newfoundland and Labrador even though that province is part of Atlantic Canada. Windsor is a community located in Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a service centre for the western part of the county and is situated on Highway 101.
