CJUL (AM)
CJUL was an English-language Canadian radio station located in Cornwall, Ontario. Owned and operated by Corus Entertainment, it broadcast on 1220 kHz with power of 1,000 watts as a class C station, using an omnidirectional antenna. The station was on the air from 1945 to 2010. History The AM radio station in Cornwall originally signed on as CKSF at 1230 kHz in 1945, launched by the Cornwall Standard Freeholder. CKSF later moved to 1220 kHz in the 1950s. It was later converted to CJSS, which converted to the 101.9 FM in 1999. Subsequently, rather than go dark, the AM 1220 frequency became home to CJUL, which flipped to an adult standards format under the name "The Jewel". On November 19, 2001, the CRTC approved the application by Corus Entertainment Inc. to purchase Tri-Co Broadcasting Ltd. (519957 Ontario Ltd.) from the Émard family. Canadian Communications Foundation
The Canadian Communications Foundation (CCF) is a Canadian nonprofit organization which documents the history of broadcasting in Canada, particularly radio and television. Since 1995, the organization has distributed its collection via an internet website. It also provides a history of radio and television stations, including networks, programs, broadcasters and many others. The CCF was established in 1967, by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters. CHSC (AM)
CFAJ (1220 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. It is owned by Radio Dhun and it broadcasts a Classic Hits radio format. The station was off the air from 2010 to 2020. CFAJ broadcasts at 10,000 watts using a directional antenna with a nine-tower array to prevent co-channel interference with WHKW Cleveland, as well as 1230 WECK in Cheektowaga, forty miles to the east. CINF was a French language Canadian radio station located in Montreal, Quebec. Owned and operated by Corus Quebec, it broadcast on 690 kHz with a power of 50,000 watts as a clear channel (class A) station, using a slightly directional antenna solely for the purpose of improving reception in downtown Montreal. The station had carried an all-news format since December 1999, identifying itself as ''Info 690''. Before that date, the station was known as CKVL and was on 850 kHz; it then had a news/talk format.
