Båtsfjord Airport
Båtsfjord Airport ( no, Båtsfjord lufthavn, ) is a regional airport serving Båtsfjord in Troms og Finnmark, Norway. It consists of a runway and served 14,485 passengers in 2016. A further 14,663 landed and started at the airport without leaving the aircraft. Scheduled services are provided by Widerøe using the Bombardier Dash 8, Dash 8 to Kirkenes, Hammerfest and other communities in Finnmark. The airport is owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor. It is the second airport in Båtsfjord. Båtsfjord Airport (1973–1999), The first was built in 1973, but only had a gravel runway. When Widerøe replaced their smaller de Havilland Canada Twin Otters (19-20 seats) with the Dash 8 (39 seats), a new airport was needed to serve Båtsfjord. Båtsfjord is the administrative centre of Båtsfjord Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The fishing village is located along the long Båtsfjorden, an inlet from the Barents Sea, along the northern coast of the Varanger Peninsula. The village sits at the northern end of Norwegian County Road 891. The Båtsfjord Airport lies just south of the village. The Hurtigruten coastal express has regular stops at Båtsfjord. Varanger Peninsula
The Varanger Peninsula ( no, Varangerhalvøya; sme, Várnjárga; fkv, Varenkinniemi) is a peninsula in Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the northeasternmost part of Norway, along the Barents Sea. The peninsula has the Tanafjorden to the west, the Varangerfjorden to the south, and the Barents Sea to the north and east. The municipalities of Vadsø, Båtsfjord, Berlevåg, Vardø, Tana, and Nesseby share the peninsula. Nesseby and Tana are only partially on the peninsula, with the rest being entirely on the peninsula. Nordfjord or Syltefjord is an abandoned fishing village in Båtsfjord Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located along the Syltefjorden, about east of the village of Båtsfjord. Hamningberg
Hamningberg is an abandoned fishing village in Båtsfjord Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The village lies along the northern coast of the large Varanger Peninsula on the shores of the Barents Sea. Its only road connection is through Vardø Municipality which is a rather long drive from the rest of Båtsfjord Municipality. Hamningberg Chapel is located in the village, although now it is only rarely used. Traditionally a fishing village, it is one of very few places in all of Finnmark county that was not burned down by the German occupation of Norway, retreating Germans in the latter part of the Second World War. It was depopulated and abandoned in 1964, although some of the houses are still in use as summer cottages. Vardø (town)
( fkv, Vuorea / sme, Várggát) OR is a town and the administrative centre of Vardø Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The town is located on the island of Vardøya in the Barents Sea, just off the coast of the large Varanger Peninsula. The town has a population (2017) of 1,875 which gives the town a population density of . Vardø is the easternmost town in Norway (and in all the Nordic countries), located at 31°E, which is east of Saint Petersburg, Kyiv, and Istanbul. The eastern part of Finnmark is in the same time zone as the rest of the country, but it is more than an hour at odds with daylight hours. ''Hurtigruten'' (), formally Kystruten Bergen-Kirkenes ("coastal route Bergen- Kirkenes"), is a Norwegian public coastal route transporting passengers that travel locally, regionally and between the ports of call, and also cargo between ports north of Tromsø. Finnmark
Finnmark (; se, Finnmárku ; fkv, Finmarku; fi, Ruija ; russian: Финнмарк) was a county in the northern part of Norway, and it is scheduled to become a county again in 2024. On 1 January 2020, Finnmark was merged with the neighbouring county of Troms to form the new Troms og Finnmark county.
