Borujerd ( fa, بروجرد ''Borūjerd'') is a city and the capital of Borujerd County, Lorestan Province in western Iran. At the 2016 census, its population was 234,997 persons. Among the existing modern cities in Iran, Borujerd is one of the oldest reported at least since the 9th century. In Sassanid Empire, Borujerd was a small town and region neighboring Nahavand. Gaining more attention during Great Seljuq Empire in the 9th and 10th centuries, Borujerd stood as an industrial, commercial and strategic city in Zagros Mountains until the 20th century. In its golden ages, Borujerd was selected as the state capital of Lorestan and Khuzestan region during Qajar dynasty in the 18th and 19th centuries. Due to the existence of a large number of production and industrial units and the supply of their products in the domestic and foreign markets, Borujerd is considered the industrial hub of Lorestan province. Soltani Mosque Of Borujerd
The Soltani Mosque of Borujerd is a large mosque in the centre of Borujerd, in the province of Lorestan, western Iran. The edifice was built in the Qajar period atop the ruins of an older mosque, which had been probably built in the 10th century AD. Soltani means "related to Sultan," and likely refers to Fath Ali Shah Qajar, who ordered this building to be rebuilt. The stone inscription on the surface of its western portico bear the date 1248 AH (1832–33 AD), and on the wooden door opening on Ja’fari Avenue, the date 1291 AH (1874–75) can be read. The plan of the mosque is of the four-arced type, with three main entrances. The western entrance gives access to the Great Bazaar of Borujerd. The mosque's yard measures 61×47 m, and the roof arch of the southern prayer all has a height of approximately 17 m. Silakhor Plain ( fa, دشت سیلاخور, Dasht-e Silakhor) is the largest flat land in Lorestan province of Iran. Located in the northeast of Lorestan, Silakhor covers most of the populated parts of Borujerd, Dorud and Azna counties. Geography Silakhor is a grassland plain expanded northwest to south east along with the elevated reliefs of Zagros mountains. Starting 15 km north of the city of Borujerd in Oshtorinan District, this large geographical feature ends in south of Azna county. Nahavand ( fa, نهاوند, translit=Nahāvand / Nehāvend) is a city in Hamadan Province, Iran. It is the capital of Nahavand County. Lurs () are an Iranian people living in the mountains of western Iran. The four Luri branches are the Bakhtiari, Mamasani, Kohgiluyeh and Lur proper, who are principally linked by the Luri language.
