Borders are usually defined as geographical boundaries, imposed either by features such as oceans and terrain, or by political entities such as governments, sovereign states, federated states, and other subnational entities. Political borders can be established through warfare, colonization, or mutual agreements between the political entities that reside in those areas; the creation of these agreements is called boundary delimitation. Some borders—such as most states' internal administrative borders, or inter-state borders within the Schengen Area—are open and completely unguarded. Border, Eastern Cape
Border is a region of Eastern Cape province in South Africa, comprising roughly the eastern half of the province. Its main centre is East London. Like the Boland region in Western Cape, Border does not have defined boundaries. The name has long been applied to sports teams that have represented the region in South African interprovincial competitions. The Border rugby union team has competed in interprovincial rugby union since 1891, and the Border cricket team has competed in interprovincial cricket since 1898. William Donald Borders
William Donald Borders (October 9, 1913 – April 19, 2010) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He was the 13th Archbishop of Baltimore from 1974 to 1989, having previously served as the first Bishop of Orlando from 1968 to 1974. Early life and education Borders was born in Washington, Indiana, the third of seven children of Thomas Martin and Zelpha Ann (née Queen) Borders. His birth came during a flood that lifted his family's house off its foundation and forced the physician to reach their house by boat. After attending Catholic elementary and high school, he began his studies for the priesthood at Saint Meinrad's Seminary in 1932. He transferred to the Archdiocese of New Orleans in Louisiana in 1936 after Archbishop Joseph Rummel made an appeal for priests and seminarians. Lisa Michelle Borders (born c. 1958) is the former president and chief executive officer of Time's Up and former president of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Early life and education Lisa Borders was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Atlanta Public Schools, and later The Westminster Schools in 1965 after her parents wanted a more academically challenging environment for her. Ila Jane Borders (born February 18, 1975), is a former left-handed pitcher in college and independent professional baseball player. As a female pitcher in men's leagues, Borders achieved numerous baseball milestones at the college and professional levels, including being the first female pitcher to start and win a men's professional baseball game. Beau Borders is an American sound engineer and race driver. Born into a grassroots racing family, Beau Borders’ earliest memories revolve around the white-knuckle world of motorsports. Larry Border (June 3, 1951 – June 8, 2011) was an American Republican politician from West Virginia. Allan Robert Border (born 27 July 1955) is an Australian cricket commentator and former international cricketer. A batsman, Border was for many years the captain of the Australian team. His playing nickname was "A.B.". He played 156 Test matches in his career, a record until it was passed by fellow Australian Steve Waugh.
