Big Beach (Tràigh Mhòr in Gaelic, pronounced "try vohr") is a community located on the north side of the Boisdale Hills on the east side of the Great Bras D'Or Lake on Provincial Route 223, which runs from Leitches Creek to Little Narrows, through Central Cape Breton Island in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Located on the "Bras D'Or Lakes Scenic Drive" it is part of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality in Central Cape Breton Island. At the time comprising the three small communities of Big Beach, Glasgow, and Big Brook, Big Beach was populated during the first half of the 19th century by Scots from the Outer Hebrides islands, specifically the Isle of Barra, as well as Benbecula and other islands in that chain, which are located off the Atlantic coast of Scotland. Today, the descendants of these Roman Catholic "Barramen" still dominate Central Cape Breton Island's Gaelic culture. Makena State Park
Mākena State Park comprises in Makena, south of Wailea on the island of Maui, Hawaii. It contains three separate beaches and a dormant volcanic cinder cone. Big Beach, also known as "Oneloa Beach" and "Mākena Beach", is a popular spot for sunbathing and bodyboarding by both tourists and locals. Big Beach is long and more than wide. The shore is fairly protected from wind. The "Makena cloud" that stretches from the top of Haleakalā to Kahoolawe is often overhead, cooling the sand. Little Beach, also known as "Puu Ōlai Beach" is a small beach just north of Big Beach separated by a steep lava outcropping (the tip of Puu Ōlai) and a 5-minute hike. Big Beach is an American independent production company founded in 2004 by Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf, based in New York City. ''Big Beach Sports'' is a sports game for the Wii developed by HB Studios and produced by THQ. The game is a collection of six beach sports simulations, in which players compete on a beach resort location. The sports include: American football, volleyball, soccer, bocce, cricket and disc golf. The games are not highly realistic simulations of the sports, but more orientated towards unrealistic physics, stylized beach scenarios, and a simplified rule set. It is most notable for being the third Wii game (the first being ''Pokémon Battle Revolution'' and the second being '' Geometry Wars: Galaxies'') to feature connectivity to the Nintendo DS. Big Beach Boutique II was a free concert held on 13 July 2002 by English DJ Fatboy Slim (Norman Cook) on Brighton Beach, Brighton, England. The concert was attented by over 250,000 people, four times the expected 60,000. Due to the far higher than expected attendance, the local authorities were severely underprepared, which lead to many incidents, including two deaths, over 150 injuries, and six arrests. Concert On the day of the concert Sussex Police reportedly considered cancelling the event due to the vast amounts of people, but decided not to as they feared a riot. The concert was attended by more than 250,000 people, double the city's population at the time and more than four times the 60,000 expected attendance.
