Barasat
Barasat () is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of Barasat Sadar subdivision. It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA). Located in the Ganges delta, Barasat is a regional transportation hub as a rail and road junction. National Highway 12 (formerly NH 34/ Krishnanagar Road towards North Bengal), NH 112 (formerly NH 35/ Jessore Road, leading to the Bangladesh border at Petrapole), Taki Road and Barrackpore-Barasat Road (both are part of SH 2) are the main connectivity links to the city. Barasat Sadar Subdivision
Barasat Sadar subdivision is an administrative subdivision of the North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. After transferring Rajarhat-Gopalpur Municipality and Rajarhat (Community development block) to Bidhannagar subdivision, Barasat Sadar subdivision's total area becomes 894.61 sq km (345.41 sq mi), population becomes 2,196,874 (2011 Census) and density becomes 2,500/sq km (6,400/sq mi). Deepak Chakraborty (better known in film career as Chiranjeet Chakraborty; born 2 November 1955), is an Indian actor and director in the Bengali film industry located in Kolkata, West Bengal. Jessore Road
Jessore Road is a road connecting Shyambazar through Dum Dum, both neighbourhoods in Kolkata, India, to Jessore in Bangladesh. While the Dum Dum-Barasat sector is now part of NH 12, the Barasat-Petrapole sector is now part of NH 112. It continues in Bangladesh as N706 from Benapole to Jessore. The road acts as a major link between places in and around Kolkata, especially Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport and Barasat. The road meets commuter (suburban) rail link at Barasat Junction railway station. Metro stations on this road include Shyambazar and Belgachia. Kakali Ghosh Dastidar
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar (born 23 November 1959) is an Indian physician and politician from West Bengal. She is Chairperson of Banga Janani Bahini, a women's wing of All India Trinamool Congress. She is a member of 15th, 16th and 17th Lok Sabha, re-elected in 2014 Indian general election and 2019. Early life Kakoli Ghosh was born on 23 November 1959. Her family has had a connection to West Bengal and Indian politics and government for three generations. Her maternal grandfather served as the postmaster general of West Bengal.
