Baltimore County Public Schools is the school district in charge of all public schools in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It is the 25th largest school system in the US as of 2013. The school system is managed by the Board of Education, headquartered in Towson. The superintendent is Darryl L. Williams, appointed by the School Board on June 11, 2019. Schools All areas in Baltimore County are unincorporated; as there are no incorporated cities in Baltimore County, all place names are neighborhoods, and have no legal jurisdiction over their areas. Balto County Public Schools
Balto (1919 – March 14, 1933) was a Siberian Husky and sled dog belonging to musher and breeder Leonhard Seppala. He achieved fame when he reportedly led a team of sled dogs driven by Gunnar Kaasen on the final leg of the 1925 serum run to Nome, in which diphtheria antitoxin was transported from Anchorage, Alaska, to Nenana, Alaska, by train and then to Nome, Alaska, Nome by dog sled to combat an outbreak of the disease. Balto lived in ease at Cleveland Zoo until his death on March 14, 1933, at the age of 14. Following his death, his body was taxidermy, mounted and displayed in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, where it remains today. 1925 serum run In January 1925 doctors realized that a potentially deadly diphtheria epidemic was poised to sweep through the young people of Nome, Alaska. Franklin High School (Reisterstown, Maryland)
Franklin High School is a public high school located in Reisterstown, Maryland, United States, an old historic town in the now northwestern suburbs of the modern City of Baltimore in Baltimore County, Maryland. It is in the Baltimore County Public Schools system. Background Currently located in Reisterstown near the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Reisterstown Road, Franklin High has a long history. Pikesville High School
Pikesville High School (PHS) is a four-year public high school in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It is part of the Baltimore County Public Schools consolidated school district. The school was opened in 1964 as Pikesville Senior High School with grades 9-11 and was renamed in the mid-1980s as part of a county-wide grade realignment. The classes currently span on 80 minute periods with an A and B day schedule. The school has recently received a $40 million renovation, including a math wing and science wing that replaced a single hallway of rooms and adjacent courtyard. The other courtyard was filled with more learning spaces. The cafeteria was expanded along with asbestos removal. Perry Hall High School
Perry Hall High School (PHHS) is a public high school in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States, established in 1967 enrolling about 2,000 students a year. Located in the northeastern Baltimore suburb of Perry Hall and serving the surrounding communities, such as Kingsville and Glen Arm, it is part of the Baltimore County Public Schools system. Area middle schools that feed into Perry Hall High are Perry Hall Middle School and Pine Grove Middle School. Patapsco High School and Center For The Arts is a public high school in the United States, located in Dundalk in Baltimore County, Maryland, near Baltimore. About the School Patapsco is located in the suburban community of Dundalk, in southeastern Baltimore County. Owings Mills High School (OMHS) is a four-year public high school in Owings Mills, Maryland, United States. It is part of the Baltimore County Public Schools consolidated school district. History Construction for Owings Mills Junior-Senior High School began in 1978. Students were housed temporarily at Pikesville Junior High and Sudbrook Middle School during the construction. Owings Mills opened in February, 1979 as a junior-senior high for grades 7-12. However, during the first year, there was no twelfth grade class. Milford Mill Academy (MMA) is a four-year public high school in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. It is located on the west side of the county close to the Baltimore City border just outside the Baltimore Beltway. About the School Milford Mill Academy is located on 3800 Washington Avenue in Milford Mill, Maryland.
