Balkan International Basketball League
The Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL), also known as the Balkan League, is a multinational professional basketball league that features mostly clubs from the Balkans. The league included teams from countries as Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania and Israel. The most recent league champion is Hapoel Galil Elyon from Israel. Purpose The purpose of the Balkan International Basketball League is to provide competitive international play for clubs in the Balkans that would otherwise be unable to participate in international basketball. The league achieves this by providing financial support to all participating clubs in order to ease the costs that make international play difficult. Among other milestones, the league is also the first international league of its kind to include teams from Kosovo. In the fifth season of the Balkan International Basketball League, twelve participants from the Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Israel, Croatia and the new represented country Greece has competed. Teams Format First round In the first round the teams were divided into two groups, each containing five teams. Each team played every other team in its group at home and away. The three teams that finished at the top of their group advanced to second round (or Group C). The teams that finished fourth and fifth in their group advanced to another group (or Group D). Gan Ner ( he, גַּן נֵר) is a community settlement in northern Israel. Located near the Green Line to the south of Afula, it falls under the jurisdiction of Gilboa Regional Council. KK EuroNickel 2005 ( mk, КК ЕуроНикел 2005) is a professional basketball club based in Kavadarci, North Macedonia named for the local ferronickel smelter operator EuroNickel. Kavadarci ( mk, Кавадарци ) is a town in the Tikveš region of North Macedonia.
