BV Cloppenburg is a German association football club located in Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony. History The club was founded after World War I in 1919 as the successor to SV Cloppenburg 1911. Through the 1950s they played in the Amateurliga Niedersachsen-West (II), and in the 1960s in the Verbandsliga Niedersachsen West (III), before falling out of sight in the early-1970s to become an obscure local side. In recent years, BV managed to rise as high as the third division Regionalliga Nord in 1998 for a couple of seasons, before falling back to the Oberliga Niedersachsen/Bremen (IV). After four seasons in the Regionalliga Nord (IV) Cloppenburg was relegated back to the Oberliga at the end of the 2015–16 season. The club won their first DFB-Pokal berth in the 2006–07 tournament by way of a Niedersachsen Cup win last season over third division side VfL Osnabrück. Franz Gerber
Franz Gerber (born 27 November 1953) is a German former professional footballer. Playing career Gerber was born in Munich. He spent most of his teenage years playing in the youth ranks at Bayern Munich, until finally making the senior squad in 1971–72, aged just 17. He made his debut on 15 April 1972 as a substitute in a 3–1 victory over Hannover 96 during the club's championship winning campaign. Despite this breakthrough, this would be Gerber's sole appearance for the legendary team as he moved onto FC St. Pauli of the (then) second flight Regionalliga North during the summer. Here, he began the first of three different spells at the club, making an immediate impact as the team finished as winners of the division in his first season. Tom Saintfiet (born 29 March 1973) is a Belgian football coach and former player. He was appointed as manager of the Gambian national team in July 2018. Coaching career Saintfiet has coached in several countries, including Belgium, Qatar, Germany, Faroe Islands, Finland, Jordan and the Netherlands. He has also worked in Africa, having been the head coach of the national teams of Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Malawi and Togo, among others. Wolfgang "Maxe" Steinbach (born 21 September 1954) is a German former football player and manager who spent most of his career playing for 1. FC Magdeburg in the DDR-Oberliga.
