Avezzano Calcio Ar. L. is an Italian association football club located in Avezzano, Abruzzo. History The club was founded in 1919 and refounded in 1998 and 2009. In 1996–1997 it played in Serie C1, the highest level reached by the team. Nuova Avezzano Following financial problems, in 2009 Nuova Avezzano Calcio tried to merge with the newly promoted to Serie C2 A.S. Pescina Valle del Giovenco. When the merging was denied by the '' Lega Calcio Serie C'', the club folded and sold its sport rights to A.S.D. Luco Canistro. In 2010/2011 Pescina, that is playing in Avezzano's pitch since his field is ineligible for Lega Pro, will be anyway renamed into Avezzano Valle del Giovenco. Avezzano ( or ; nap, Avezzàne, label=Marsicano ) is a city and ''comune'' with a population of 40,819 inhabitants, situated in the Abruzzo region, province of L'Aquila, Italy. Giuseppe Pancaro
Giuseppe Pancaro (; born 26 August 1971) is a former Italian football defender turned coach. A strong, reliable, and tenacious left-back, who was effective in the air, he was known for his stamina and work-rate, which allowed him to contribute both offensively and defensively. A versatile player, although he was usually deployed along the left flank, he was also capable of playing on the right. Alessandro Del Grosso (born 27 August 1972) is an Italian footballer. Football career Early years Del Grosso started his career at teams of Serie C2. He followed Avezzano promoted to Serie C1 in summer 1996. The Coppa Italia Dilettanti (Italian language, Italian for: Italian Amateurs Cup) is an annual knock-out competition for teams from the fifth and sixth levels of Football in Italy, Italian football: the Eccellenza and the Promozione. All ties except for the final, which is held at the Stadio Flaminio in Rome, are played on a home-and-away basis. The cup-winners are also awarded promotion to Serie D, the fourth-ranked league. Prior to the 1999–2000 season the competition also included teams from Serie D. The Promozione (, "promotion") is the sixth level in the Italian football league system. Each individual league winner within the Promozione level progresses to their closest regional league in the Eccellenza level. Depending on each league's local rules, a number of teams each year are relegated from each league, to the 7th level of Italian football, the Prima Categoria. This level of Italian football is completely amateur and is run on a regional level. Stadio dei Marsi is a stadium in the Via Napoli ("Naples Street") neighbourhood of Avezzano, Italy. It was built between the years '30 and '50.
