Avanhard (sports Society)
Avanhard (sports society) ( uk, Авангард (спортивне товариство)) was a trade unions sports society of the Ukrainian SSR. Created in 1957, it was uniting workers of industry and construction from 14 other sport societies such as "Torpedo", "Shakhtar", "Khimik", "Chervona Zirka", "Chervonyi Prapor", "Budivelnyk", and others. Brief description On January 1, 1977, it accounted for 3,199 primary collectives with over two millions of sportsmen. The society was cultivating 49 types of sports. It was composed of such famous sports clubs as Metalurh Zaporizhia, Zorya Luhansk, Stal Dnipropetrovsk, Sudobudivnyk Mykolaiv, Budivelnyk Kyiv, and others. In 1982 the society merged with its Russian counterpart "Trud". In 1991 the society was recognized as a parent organization of the newly established sports society "Ukraina". The Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic ( uk, Украї́нська Радя́нська Соціалісти́чна Респу́бліка, ; russian: Украи́нская Сове́тская Социалисти́ческая Респу́блика, group=note), abbreviated as the Ukrainian SSR, UkrSSR, or UkSSR, and also known as Soviet Ukraine, was one of the constituent republics of the Soviet Union from 1922 until 1991. 1960 Summer Olympics
The 1960 Summer Olympics ( it, Giochi Olimpici estivi del 1960), officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad ( it, Giochi della XVII Olimpiade) and commonly known as Rome 1960 ( it, Roma 1960), were an international multi-sport event held from 25 August to 11 September 1960 in Rome, Italy. Rome had previously been awarded the administration of the 1908 Summer Olympics, but following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1906, the city had no choice but to decline and pass the honour to London. Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia
The ''Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia'' ( uk, Українська радянська енциклопедія, ''Ukrayinska radyanska entsyklopediya'') was a multi-purpose encyclopedia of Ukraine, issued in the USSR. First attempt Following the publication of the first volume of the in Lviv, then in Poland, in 1930, the ''Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia'' (''USE'') was commissioned by Mykola Skrypnyk. During his chairmanship in Kharkiv the editorial board of the ''USE'' was established, enlisting the help of over 100 professionals. Printing began in early 1933, but Moscow censors decried the encyclopedia as being nationalist. Of the 20 planned volumes only three were produced. In the same year Skrypnyk committed suicide, and was succeeded by Volodymyr Zatonsky. The printed copies were destroyed, and plans for the November 1934 edition of USE dissolved. The 1976 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XII Olympic Winter Games (german: XII. Ivan Biakov
Ivan Ivanovych Biakov (russian: Иван Иванович Бяков; 21 September 1944 – 4 November 2009) was a Soviet biathlete. At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, he won a gold medal with the Soviet relay team. He received another gold medal at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck. His second team gold Biakov won with help of French biathlon athlete Yvon Mougel. In 1966 Biakov represented the Kazakhstani team at the People's Spartakiad of the Soviet Union in Sverdlovsk (today Yekaterinburg). Since 1974 Biakov lived in KyivSlastnikov, N.P. The 1972 Winter Olympics, officially the and commonly known as Sapporo 1972 ( ja, 札幌1972), was a winter multi-sport event held from February 3 to 13, 1972, in Sapporo, Japan. It was the first Winter Olympic Games to take place outside Europe and North America. Host city selection Sapporo first won the rights to host the 1940 Winter Olympics, but Japan resigned as the Games' host after its Second Sino-Japanese War, 1937 invasion of China.
