Clement Attlee
Clement Richard Attlee, 1st Earl Attlee, (3 January 18838 October 1967) was a British politician who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1945 to 1951 and Leader of the Labour Party from 1935 to 1955. He was Deputy Prime Minister during the wartime coalition government under Winston Churchill, and served twice as Leader of the Opposition from 1935 to 1940 and from 1951 to 1955. Attlee remains the longest serving Labour leader. Attlee was born into an upper-middle-class family, the son of a wealthy London solicitor. After attending the public school Haileybury College and the University of Oxford, he practised as a barrister. The volunteer work he carried out in London's East End exposed him to poverty, and his political views shifted leftwards thereafter. Earl Attlee is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 16 December 1955 for Clement Attlee, the former Labour prime minister. At the same time he was made Viscount Prestwood, of Walthamstow in the County of Essex, which serves as the subsidiary title to the earldom and is also in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. As of 2022, the titles are held by his grandson, the third Earl, who succeeded his father in 1991. He is one of the ninety elected hereditary peers that remain in the House of Lords after the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999. In contrast to his father and grandfather, the current Lord Attlee is a member of the Conservative Party. Terra is the name used by three fictional superheroines published by DC Comics. The first Terra, Tara Markov, is an antiheroine eventually revealed to actually be a supervillainess working as a double agent. She was created by Marv Wolfman and George Pérez, and debuted in ''Teen Titans#New Teen Titans, New Teen Titans'' #26 (December 1982). The second Terra, a doppelgänger of Tara Markov, debuted in ''New Titans'' #79 (September 1991) and was created by Marv Wolfman and Tom Grummett. Attlee Glacier () is a glacier long, which flows east-southeast from the plateau escarpment on the east side of Graham Land to the head of Cabinet Inlet to the north of Bevin Glacier. Atlee or Atlee Station is an unincorporated community in central Hanover County in the Mid-Atlantic state of Virginia, United States. Atlee is located north of Richmond on Route 637 approximately north-northwest of the intersection of Route 637 and Virginia State Route 2. and approximately south of Fredericksburg, Virginia History Atlee was known for its two train stops and more than likely its namesake came from a delegate to the state legislature who lived in the area, Jacob S.
