Atlanta Beat (WPS)
The Atlanta Beat was an American soccer club based in Atlanta, Georgia that competed on a professional level. The team joined Women's Professional Soccer as an expansion team in 2010, and played its home games at Kennesaw State University Soccer Stadium, the result of a public-private partnership between the team and Kennesaw State University. The club took the name and logo of the former Atlanta Beat (WUSA) of the defunct Women's United Soccer Association. Women's Professional Soccer
Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) was the top-level professional women's soccer league in the United States. It began play on March 29, 2009. The league was composed of seven teams for its first two seasons and fielded six teams for the 2011 season, with continued plans for future expansion. The WPS was the highest level in the United States soccer pyramid for the women's game. On January 30, 2012, the league announced suspension of the 2012 season, citing several internal organization struggles as the primary cause. Some of these issues included an ongoing legal battle with magicJack owner Dan Borislow and the lack of resources invested into the league. Carli Lloyd
Carli Anne Hollins (; born July 16, 1982) is an American former professional soccer player. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist (2008 and 2012), two-time FIFA Women's World Cup champion (2015 and 2019), two-time FIFA Player of the Year (2015 and 2016), and a four-time Olympian (2008, 2012, 2016 and 2021). Kacey Dell White (formerly Burke; born April 27, 1984) is an American professional soccer midfielder and coach. She most recently played for the Atlanta Beat of Women's Professional Soccer and the United States women's national soccer team. Early life Born in Aurora, Colorado, White began playing soccer at the age of five. Julianne Marie Sitch (born September 18, 1983) is an American former professional soccer defender. She is currently a coach for the Chicago Red Stars and head coach of the University of Chicago men's soccer team. In 2022, she became the first woman in NCAA history to lead a men’s team to a national championship. Keeley Kathleen Dowling (born February 17, 1983) is an American soccer defender, who is currently the head women's soccer coach at Colorado State University. Early life Born and raised in Carmel, Indiana, Dowling attended Carmel High School where she captained the soccer team to the state championship as a senior. She was named the 2000 Indiana Player of the Year the same year. Dowling earned Parade All-American honors and was named Hamilton County and Metro Player of the Year.
