Athletics At The Pan Arab Games
Athletics is one of the sports at the quadrennial Arab Games competition. Athletics competitions have been held at every one of the eleven editions of the Pan Arab Games, which was inaugurated in 1953. Many of the region's top athletes have competed in the athletics at the Pan Arab Games, such as Saïd Aouita, Hassiba Boulmerka and Ghada Shouaa. 2023 Arab Games
The 2023 Arab Sports Games was the 13th edition of the Arab Games, an international multi-sport event which will take place in Algeria, between 5 and 15 July 2023. It witnessed the participation of all the 22 Arab League members in 22 sports. For the first time, five cities hosted the games: Algiers, Oran, Constantine, Annaba and Tipaza. Host selection Algeria was chosen as the host on 14 March 2023 during a meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Doha ( ar, الدوحة, ad-Dawḥa or ''ad-Dōḥa'') is the capital city and main financial hub of Qatar. 2011 Pan Arab Games
The 2011 Pan Arab Games also known as the 12th Pan Arab Games took place in Doha, Qatar from 6 to 23 December 2011. This was the first time that the country had hosted the multi-sport event. Khalifa International Stadium was the main venue for the competition. Preparation Host selection Qatar was awarded rights to organise the games beating Lebanon in the bidding process. Arab Federation for Sports secretary-general Othman Al-Saad said that Qatar's hosting of the Pan-Arab Games would give the event "more momentum and significance in light of the huge capabilities and world-class sports facilities which Qatar owns." 2007 Pan Arab Games
The 11th Pan Arab Games took place in Cairo, Egypt from 11 – 26 November 2007. A total of 22 countries participated in 32 events. These games were the largest in the games' history; seven new events were introduced and 2000 more athletes participated than in previous years, making them 8000 Arab athletes. It was also the first time that some of the Arab football federations participated with their first teams. 1999 Pan Arab Games
The 1999 Pan Arab Games were ninth edition of the multi-sport event between Arab countries and were held from August 15 to August 31. A total of around 4600 athletes from 21 countries participated in the 29 sports on offer. The opening ceremony that took place in Al Hussein Youth City Stadium was officially opened by King Abdullah II. Initially set to be held in Amman in 2001, the games were brought forward two years and branded as the "Al Hussein tournament" in honour of Hussein of Jordan, the long-ruling monarch who died earlier that year. The 8th Pan Arab Games were held in Beirut, Lebanon between July 12 and July 27, 1997. 3253 athletes from 18 countries participated in events in 22 sports. Over 50,000 people gathered in the Sports City in Beirut for the opening ceremony of the eighth Pan-Arab games, the first such event to be hosted by Lebanon since forty years. 1992 Pan Arab Games
The 1992 Pan Arab Games was the seventh edition of the quadrennial multi-sport event between Arab nations. It was held in Damascus, Syria between September 4 and September 18, 1992. A total of 2611 athletes from 18 countries participated in events in 14 sports. The event was greatly affected by the 1991 Gulf War, and several players from many arab countries refused to participate in the Games. Iraq and Libya don't took part to the games.
