Athletics is one of the sports at the quadrennial GCC Games competition. It has been one of the sports competed at the event since the inaugural edition in 2011. Until the 2022 edition, women competed at the separate GCC Women's Games event. The Games record in the men's 100 m was set by Tosin Ogunode in 2022 with a time of 10.05 seconds. The GCC Games, a quadrennial multi-sport event, was established by the union and first held in 2011 GCC Games, 2011. Tosin Ogunode
Tosin Joseph Ogunode (born 2 March 1994) is a Nigerian-born track and field sprinter who competes internationally for Qatar. He is the younger brother of Femi Ogunode, another Nigerian-turned-Qatari sprinter who won two golds at the 2010 Asian Games. Tosin Ogunode made his debut at the start of the 2014 season and promptly set an Asian indoor record of 6.50 seconds for the 60 metres event at the Northern Arizona University indoor facility in the United States. Qatif or Al-Qatif ( ar, ٱلْقَطِيف ''Al-Qaṭīf'') is a governorate and urban area located in Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. 2022 GCC Games
The 2022 GCC Games was the third edition of multi-sport event for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. It was held in Kuwait, from 16 to 31 May 2022. A total of more than 1,500 athletes and 500 officials participated in 16 sports. Female athletes competed for the first time at the GCC Games in this edition. The six sports involving female athletes are athletics, basketball (3×3), cycling, futsal, esports, and padel. Background The Games were originally scheduled to take place from 3 to 14 April 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, on 3 March 2020, the event was postponed.
