Roberto Marson
Roberto Marson (29 June 1944 – 7 November 2011) was an Italian multisport athlete who competed at the Summer Paralympics on four occasions and won a total of 26 Paralympic medals. He lost the use of his legs when a pine tree he was chopping down fell on his back. He is included in Visa Paralympic Hall of Fame of the International Paralympic Committee. Biography Marson made his first Paralympic appearance, representing Italy, in the second ever Games in Tokyo, Japan, in 1964. He competed in three different sports: athletics, wheelchair fencing and swimming. In athletics he won two gold medals and two silver medals, setting a new world record of 24.20 metres in the men's javelin C classification. He finished fourth in both of the freestyle swimming events in which he competed. Eugene Reimer
Eugene "Gene" Reimer (21 January 1940 – 9 June 2008) was a Canadian wheelchair Paralympic athlete who won 10 Paralympic medals and 50 Canadian and Pan-American medals from 1968 to 1980. Having polio at an early age, he was a member of the wheelchair basketball team Vancouver Cable Cars alongside Terry Fox and Rick Hansen. In 1972, Reimer became the first person with a disability to be named Canada's Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year and to be inducted into the Order of Canada. Personal life Reimer was born on 21 January 1940 in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. At the age of three, he contacted polio, leaving him with paraplegia. He later moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia, where he lived with his two sons and daughter. Reimer died on 9 June 2008 at the age of 68. Daniel Erasmus is a South African athlete who won twelve medals at the Paralympic Games. At the 1964 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, Erasmus competed in athletics and medalled in all four of his events, taking gold in the discus and shot put and silver in the club throw and javelin. At the 1968 games in Tel Aviv, Israel, he took part in five athletics events and medalled in four, taking gold in shot put and javelin and silver in club throw and discus. Vic Renalson
Victor "Vic" Allen Renalson, MBE (1926/1927 – July 1998) was an Australian athlete, weightlifter, and track and field coach. He won ten medals at four Paralympics from 1964 to 1976, and worked as a track and field coach for both Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Personal life Renalson became a paraplegic after a car accident in 1951 at the age of 23. He was working as a fitter and Turner and was driving to North Queensland to work on a sugarcane plantation when the steering on his car failed near Sarina. The car hit a bridge and he was thrown to a dry creek bed. He was married to Laurel, a former Queensland netballer and Australian walking champion, who died in 1992. He died in July 1998 on Queensland's Sunshine Coast at the age of 71.
