Asian Diasporas
''Asian Diasporas'' is an intermittently-broadcast forty-minute BBC Radio 4 documentary programme about Asian communities around the world, first transmitted in 2007 with so far three episodes. The programme has been introduced by Jatinder Verma, "himself a child of the diaspora", who was born in Dar es Salaam and grew up in Kenya and was the first Asian theatre director to direct a play at Britain's Royal National Theatre, National Theatre. Asian Diasporas broadcast history to date has consisted of ''Family'', which looked at Japanese people in Latin America and elsewhere; ''Business'', which examined Korean family business in the US; and ''Politics'', which focused on List of Chinese dissidents, Chinese dissident activists in the US and in Europe. Jatinder Verma
Jatinder Verma, MBE (born 1954), is a British theatre director and activist, who in 1977 co-founded the British Asian theatre company Tara Arts, leading it as artistic director.Bosanquet, Theo (15 January 2020)"Big Interviews: Jatinder Verma" ''The Stage''. Biography Born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and raised in Nairobi, Kenya, he moved with his family to Britain as a 14-year-old in February 1968. He attended York University and Sussex University. Verma was one of the co-founders of Tara Arts, a British Asian theatre company that was created in response to the racial tensions in Britain in the late 1970s. Verma directed Tara's very first production (an adaptation of a Tagore play) at Battersea Arts Centre in August 1977. Later on, Tara Arts got its own theatre on Garratt Lane, Earlsfield in South London.

Dar es Salaam (; from ar, دَار السَّلَام, Dâr es-Selâm, lit=Abode of Peace) or commonly known as Dar, is the largest city and financial hub of Tanzania.
