Bj League
The was a professional basketball league in Japan that began in November 2005 as a six-team league. The league was operated as a competitor to the established Japan Super League which was run by the Japan Basketball Association, the official governing body of basketball in Japan. Over the next ten years the league saw continual expansion, with at least one new team joining every season, reaching 24 teams divided into two conferences in its final season in 2015–16. Turkish Airlines was the major sponsor of the 2014–15 and 2015–16 seasons. The bj league operated on the American sports franchise system. This was in contrast to the Japan Super League and its successor, the National Basketball League, which was a corporate league composed primarily of company teams and other clubs affiliated with the JBA. Kenichi Takahashi (basketball)
, nicknamed Shocho, is a former Japanese professional basketball player and served for Akita Northern Happinets of the B.League as the ambassador. Takahashi is currently the instructor for Toreiku Katagami. He was selected by the Sendai 89ers with the third overall pick in the 2006 bj League draft. He has played for the four Tohoku clubs of the bj league. In October 2015 he became a one-day honorary police chief at the Akita Higashi Police Station. Since then a police officer salute has become popular among Akita's boosters. Takahashi studies NBA to improve his game, and he is an Air Jordan collector. His retirement memorial game was held at Akita Prefectural Gymnasium on October 29, 2017. Brandon Sebirumbi (born May 15, 1990) is a Ugandan-American professional basketball player who formerly played for Aomori Wat's of the B.League in Japan. Collegiate career Sebirumbi played college basketball with the Furman Paladins. He averaged 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game as a sophomore. Professional career On September 6, 2013, Sebirumbi signed with Planasa Navarra of the LEB Oro in Spain. Gyno Pomare
Leonardo "Gyno" Pomare (born April 5, 1986) is an American-Panamanian professional basketball player. He is last played professionally with the Yamagata Wyverns of the B.League College career Pomare was a four-year player with the University of San Diego. He originally committed to the Toreros out of El Camino High School for the 2004 season, but sat out the 2004-05 season as a redshirt. In his first full season with the school, 2005–06, he averaged 10.4 points and 5 rebounds per game en route to being named to the All-West Coast Conference Freshman Team. Pomare had a prolific career with the Toreros, eventually ending as the school's all-time leading scorer. Stanley Ocitti (sometimes referred to as Stanley Ochaya Ocitti) (born 28 May 1980) is a Ugandan former professional basketball player. He played for the Aomori Watts Sports Club of the bj league in Japan. Ocitti is one of Uganda's most prominent basketball figures. He played most minutes, scored most points and grabbed most rebounds for the Uganda national basketball team at the 2015 FIBA Africa Championship in Radès, Tunisia.
