Angela Alioto
Angela Mia Alioto Veronese (born October 20, 1949) is an American attorney, politician, member of the Secular Franciscan Order, and founder of the Knights of Saint Francis at the Porziuncola Nuova. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the daughter of Joseph L. Alioto, the 36th mayor of San Francisco. Education In 1971, Alioto received a B.A., Cum Laude, in English, French, and Italian (Dante Alighieri) literature and the Italian Renaissance from Lone Mountain College, in San Francisco. In 1983, she received a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law, and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1987, after having previously failed several times. Joseph Lawrence Alioto (February 12, 1916 – January 29, 1998) was an American politician who served as the 36th mayor of San Francisco, California, from 1968 to 1976. Biography Alioto was born in San Francisco in 1916. His father, Giuseppe Alioto, was a Sicilian immigrant who owned and operated several fish processing companies. His mother, Domenica Mae Lazio, was born in San Francisco. His parents met on a fishing boat while escaping the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Education He attended Sacred Heart High School (presently Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory). Kathleen Sullivan Alioto (born June 20, 1944) is an American educator and politician who served on the Boston School Committee as a member (1974–79) and its president (1977). She played a role in the desegregation of the Boston public schools. Early life and education Sullivan Alioto is the daughter of Billy Sullivan, founder and long-time owner of the New England Patriots. She grew up outside Boston. She graduated from Manhattanville College. She has a doctorate from Harvard Graduate School of Education. Michela Alioto-Pier (born April 29, 1968) is an American politician and small business owner who served as a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors from 2004 to 2011. A Democrat, she represented District 2, encompassing the Marina and Pacific Heights neighborhoods. She previously served as a member of the San Francisco Port Commission. She was appointed to the Board of Supervisors by Gavin Newsom after he was elected mayor, in 2003. Newsom himself was initially appointed to this seat by former mayor Willie Brown. Tim Alioto is a retired American soccer defender who spent most of his career with the amateur Milwaukee Bavarians. He played professionally for four years in the American Indoor Soccer Association. In 1968, Alioto began his youth career with a Salvation Army team. In 1974, he joined the Milwaukee Bavarians. In 1976, Alioto graduated from Madison High School. He had played high school soccer as a sophomore, but stopped playing for his high school team after joining the Bavarians. In 1977, the Bavarians went to the final of the McGuire Cup where they fell to the Santa Ana Broncos. Alioto did not attend college and remained played for the Bavarians senior team with short stints with the Milwaukee Sports Club and Milwaukee Serbians (1986-1987). Tom Alioto (born May 20, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a retired American soccer defender who played in the North American Soccer League, Major Indoor Soccer League and American Indoor Soccer Association. Player Both Tom Alioto and his twin brother Tim both played extensively as youth players with the Milwaukee Bavarians. Alioto also played soccer for Madison University High School. In 1980, Tom signed with the Chicago Sting in the North American Soccer League for the 1980–81 indoor season. In 1982, he moved to the Oklahoma City Slickers in the American Soccer League. In the fall of 1982, Alioto signed with the Kansas City Comets of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
