Tanzania Airports Authority
Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA) was founded in 1999 by an Act of Parliament. The authority is responsible for the provision of airport services, ground support, infrastructure and construction of airports in Tanzania. Arusha Airport
Arusha Airport is a domestic airport located in the city of Arusha, the capital of the Arusha Region of Tanzania. The airport is currently undergoing an expansion, which includes a new apron and terminal building. The Arusha non-directional beacon (Ident: AR) is located at the west end of the field. Table below as follows: Statistics Accidents and incidents * On 18 December 2013, an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 767 (ET-AQW) flight from Addis Ababa to Kilimanjaro International Airport made an unscheduled landing at the airport after it failed to land at its destination. The runway is shorter than the 767 is normally able to operate from. Consequently, it overran the end of the runway which resulted in the airport being closed for a short time. Hai District
Hai is one of the seven districts of the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania.The district covers approximately . It is bordered to the southwest by the Meru District of Arusha Region, to the west by the Siha District, and to the east by the Moshi Urban District and Moshi Rural District and the Rombo District to the far north. The western breach part of Mount Kilimanjaro is located in the Hai District. According to the 2012 census, the population of the Hai District was 210,533. Geita Airport
Geita Airport is a small regional airport in northern Tanzania serving the city of Geita. It is located near the south western shores of Lake Victoria approximately from the city Chato. The airport has the longest runway and only asphalt runway in the Geita Region. History Construction of the airport began in 2017 south of the town of Chato and west of the regional capital Geita. The project approximately cost TSh 40 billion and was entirely funded by the Government of Tanzania. The airport was built to serve the region of Geita, a region that produces more than half of the countries gold exports. Chato District
Chato District is one of the five districts in Geita Region of northwestern Tanzania. Its administrative centre is the town of Chato. The main ethnic group in the district are the Sukuma. The late John Magufuli, who used to be as President of Tanzania from 2015—2021, was born in Chato. History The Chato District was formed around 2005 within Kagera Region after being separated from Biharamulo District. In 2012, it was transferred to the newly created Geita Region. In March 2006, Rwandan refugees who had settled in the district were evicted. The following year, a few who had been evicted improperly were allowed to come back.
