An airport is an aerodrome with extended facilities, mostly for commercial air transport. Airports usually consists of a landing area, which comprises an aerially accessible open space including at least one operationally active surface such as a runway for a plane to take off and to land or a helipad, and often includes adjacent utility buildings such as control towers, hangars and terminals, to maintain and monitor aircraft. Dodji
Dodji is a town in north central Senegal. with a 2007 estimated population of 8,281. It is in the Louga Region, Linguère Department, and the Dodji Arrondissement, which consists of the communauté rurales of Dodji, Labgar, and Ouarkhokh. Though a separate administrative unit, Dodji falls under the Commune of Dahra - Linguère. As of 2007, Dodji's highest administrative official, (''Président de Communauté Rurale'') is Math Coueladio Ba, formerly of the Senegalese Socialist Party, now allied to the ruling PDS. Dodji Airport is a long sand landing strip. History Dodji is situated in a semi-arid savanna zone, with few permanent settlements until the decades before the Second World War. Linguère
Linguère (or Lingeer in SererKlein, Martin A. "Islam and Imperialism in Senegal Sine-Saloum, 1847–1914." Edinburgh University Press (1968) pp 11-15 & 262 and Wolof) is a town located in the Linguère Department, Louga Region of Senegal. History Linguére was the capital of the Jolof Empire and its successor, the Kingdom of Jolof. The name Lingeer was also used as a title for Serer and Wolof queens and royal princesses. Transport The town lies on the N3 road connecting it to Dakar and Touba to the west and Ouro Sogui and Mauretania to the east. The town was formally the terminus of a branch railway. The train station is now in ruins and the tracks are non-existent as they have been ripped up and used by locals as part of fences. Infrastructure The town has roughly 15,000 inhabitants, and is served by a weekly market that takes place on Fridays. Kolda ( ar, كولدا; Wolof: Koldaa) is a city located in southern Senegal. It is the capital city of Kolda Region and Kolda Department, a region known historically and popularly as Haute Casamance. Kédougou (Wolof: Keédugu) is a town in the Kédougou Region of south-eastern Senegal near the border with Mali and Guinea. It lies at an elevation of above sea level. Founded in the early 20th century by the Malinké people, Kédougou means the "Land of Man". The town lies on the N7 road and the River Gambia amid the Pays Bassari hills and Fouta Djallon foothills. Local attractions include the Dindefelo Falls and Niokolo-Koba National Park. The main sources of income in the town are agriculture, small-scale commerce, construction, and gold mining. There is a military camp, a hospital, a community radio station and library, a Peace Corps Office and a number of small businesses. Kaolack Region
The Kaolack region is a region in Senegal. It borders Gambia and is a common stopping point for travel between Dakar and Banjul. Its borders correspond roughly to the Saalum Kingdom of precolonial days, and the area is still spoken of as the ''Saalum'' in Wolof, and its inhabitants are called ''Saalum-Saalum''. Kaolack city is the administrative centre for the region. It is a port on the Saloum River. Lying in a farm area, Kaolack is a major peanut marketing and exporting center and has a large peanut oil factory. Brewing, leather tanning, cotton ginning, and fish processing are also important industries. Salt is produced from salines near the Saloum River.
