Academy Of Korean Studies
Academy of Korean Studies (한국학중앙연구원, AKS) is a South Korean research and educational institute with the purpose of establishing profound research on Korean culture. It was established on June 22, 1978, by Ministry of Education & Science Technology of South Korea (교육과학기술부). The Academy has dedicated to interpreting and analyzing Korean culture in general, defining the academic identity of Korean studies, and educating scholars. Korea Research Foundation
The National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) was established in 2009 as a merger of Korea Science and Engineering Foundation (KOSEF), Korea Research Foundation (KRF), and Korea Foundation for International Cooperation of Science and Technology (KICOS). It provides support for research into new theories for the advancement of science, the arts, and the Korean culture in general. The foundation was first established in 1981. Korean Studies (journal)
''Korean Studies'' is an international, academic journal that seeks to further scholarship on Korea and Koreans abroad by providing a forum for interdisciplinary and multicultural articles, book reviews, and essays in the humanities and social sciences. The journal was founded at the University of Hawaii Center for Korean Studies under the directorship of Dae-Sook Suh. Volumes 1-3 list the Center faculty, but no editor. Volumes 4-6 list Peter D. Lee as editor, and subsequent volumes show editorial successions by Center faculty at intervals of (usually) three to six years. The journal continues to be edited at the UH Center for Korean Studies and published by the University of Hawaii Press. The cover design changed in 1996, on its 20th anniversary. The translation of its title as ''Hangukhak'', which appears in Korean script on the cover, has generated some controversy because only South Koreans call their country Hanguk. Both types of schools receive funding from the government, although the amount that the private schools receive is less than the amount of the state schools. The Journal Of Korean Studies
''The Journal of Korean Studies'' is a biannual peer-reviewed academic journal covering Korean studies. It was established in 1969. The original series had two issues numbered Volume 1 (1969) and 2 (1971) that were edited by David Messler (University of Washington-Seattle). A decade later, James Palais (University of Washington-Seattle) edited and published volumes 1-5 of the second series (1979-1987). Volumes 6-8 (1988-1992) were edited by Mike Robinson (Indiana University Bloomington). In 2004 the Korean Studies Program of the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia–Pacific Research Center ( Stanford University) and editors Gi-wook Shin and John Duncan revived the journal and published volumes 9-13. In August 2008, Clark W.
