Abdanan County ( fa, شهرستان آبدانان, Kurdish: ئاودانان) is in Ilam province, Iran. The capital of the county is the city of Abdanan. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 45,830 in 9,358 households. The following census in 2011 counted 46,977 people in 11,256 households. At the 2016 census, the county's population was 47,851 in 13,188 households. The county is populated by Kurds and Lurs Lurs () are an Iranian people living in the mountains of western Iran. Lurs
Lurs () are an Iranian people living in the mountains of western Iran. The four Luri branches are the Bakhtiari, Mamasani, Kohgiluyeh and Lur proper, who are principally linked by the Luri language. Lorestan Province is named after the Lurs, but the ethnic group also live in the provinces of Fars, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Khuzestan, Hamadan, Isfahan, Tehran and southern Ilam Province. Language Luri is a Western Iranian language continuum spoken by about four million people.
